About
Dr. John Canning joined Silver Lake Family Dental in 2010. However, he has been with the practice since 1990…as a patient. Dr. Canning completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. A life-long Southsider, he attended Marist High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. A member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society, Dr. Canning is always advancing his clinical skills. He enjoys keeping up to date with the ever changing world of dentistry by attending continuing education seminars on topics including oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry to root canal therapy, dental implants. Recently, Dr. Canning attended a hands-on workshop hosted by 3M where he learned new techniques for mini dental implants. What Dr. Canning loves most about dentistry is the ability to change the patient's quality of life through his or her smile. One of his main goals is to provide an enjoyable and relaxed environment where the patient and the dentist can work together to achieve a common goal – your perfect smile. An avid Chicago White Sox, Bulls, and Bears fan, Dr. Canning enjoys golf and cycling. If you need a dinner recommendation for downtown Chicago, he can help you with that.
