John M. Coats DDS is a specialists in endodontics. He was raised in Bloomfield Hill, Michigan. His father was an oral health care professional who passed his love for helping others on to him.He received his Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry. Dr. Coats then completed his post-doctorate education at University of Detroit, Mercy in their renowned Endodontics program. Dr. Coats founded Rocky Mountain Endodontics in Salt Lake City, Utah where he served as President until 2016. Also founder of the Dental Cooperative in Utah, whose purpose was to further independent dentistry. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics and the Utah Endodontic Association.Dr. Coats was the first Endodontist in Utah to incorporate lasers into the field of Endodontics, and he continues the use of Fotona Ultra Performance Lasers in Endodontics as well as other aspects of dentistry. Rocky Mountain Endodontics was sold in 2016 and Dr. Coats ventured onto practicing in Tucson, Arizona and Santa Barbara, California. Ultimately Utah was his home and he has returned with the love of his life, Susie.
