About
Dr. Johnny Shanks grew up in Cumberland County and graduated from Campbellsville University in 2005 with a BS in biology and chemistry. Dr. Shanks played NAIA collegiate baseball for the Campbellsville Tigers, where his team's hard work was rewarded the title of 2003 NAIA Conference Champions. He attended the University Of Tennessee School Of Dentistry in Memphis and graduated in 2010. While studying dental medicine, Dr. Shanks was repeatedly recognized with awards for clinical excellence, including the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration Award and the American Association of Endodontists Award. He completed his degree a semester early and accepted a teaching position at the University of Tennessee, where he taught second year dental students. Dr. Shanks is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Crossville Dental Society, as well as the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Kois Center for Dental Excellence, and International Dental Implant Association. He continues to hone his skills with a devotion to continuing education, in order to stay on the cutting edge of dental medicine and provide his patients with the best care possible. Dr. Shanks and his family are excited to be back home in Crossville and look forward to expanding their roots and sharing their love for the community. Dr. Shanks and his wife, Portia, have been married since 2005 and enjoy spending time with their four children. Dr. Shanks is now a graduate of the prestigious Kois Center!
