Dr. Lori Cockley is pleased to provide healthy, beautiful smiles to her neighbors in East Berlin and the surrounding area. She places great emphasis on being a gentle dentist who treats her patients, not just their teeth. Dr. Cockley earned her dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. A unique combination of knowledge and experience allows her to provide dental care in a compassionate, professional manner as part of your overall health care plan for you and your family. Committed to lifelong learning in the dental field, Dr. Cockley participates in numerous hours of continuing education programs each year. She has recently developed her expertise in treating adults, children, and infants with TOTs (tethered oral tissues). This includes patients with tongue-tie, called ankyloglossia, and lip-tie, also known as tight maxillary frenum. Her training allows her to perform laser tongue-tie revisions that take a few seconds to complete, with little to no pain. She also works closely with lactation consultants to help breastfeeding moms whose babies are having latching difficulties. Dr. Cockley is a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue-Tie Professionals and has trained with some of the top names in tongue-tie diagnosis, assessment, and revisions. Additionally, advanced training in restorative, cosmetic, and laser dentistry allows Dr. Cockley to work with you on a wide variety of dental concerns, forming a partnership to achieve your optimum oral health. She has achieved Mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction held by only 2% of general dentists nationwide. With a background as a graphic artist, Dr. Cockley brings an eye for design to her cosmetic dentistry, so you can rest assured your smile will look its absolute best! She loves children and has a "child-friendly" practice, so bring your whole family, including the little ones! Dr. Cockley believes in giving back by doing charity work, at home and overseas. She has volunteered with the Mission of Mercy and Dentistry from the Heart, which serve people who cannot afford dental care here in our own community. She and her entire team have traveled to Vietnam with Operation Smile, offering dental services to impoverished children, and traveled to Belize in 2014 and 2015 with International Health Outreach. She also participates in numerous community outreach programs each year to benefit local charities. Professionally, Dr. Cockley is serving on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry and is on the peer review committee for Pennwell Publishing. Her articles have been published in the Journal of the American Orthodontic Society and Dental Economics, and she has had literature reviews published in the Library of the Dental Academy of Continuing Education. In 2018, she founded the Pennsylvania Tongue-Tie Center.
