About

Dr. Engelmann graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1979, The University of Kansas in 1983 and from The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry in 1987. After completing her training at UMKC Dr. Engelmann chose to stay here to be close to family and for the warm, friendly people of the mid-west. Dr. Engelmann has two children; Jenna is a recent graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth working in the marketing industry and Garrett is a Junior at the California Maritime Academy. She enjoys KU Basketball, TCU Football, watching her kids in their varied activities, and traveling the world. Dr. Engelmann is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association and the 5th District Dental Society. She is continually attending training sessions to keep up on the latest in dental treatment and protocol.

Care Philosophy

I became a dentist because I love to see people smile. Dentistry allows me to help people achieve the best smile possible. I do believe that dentistry isn't just about teeth however. Its also about people-our patients and my team. I believe in treating each person who comes into the office as an individual and really try and get to know them. Many of my patients have been with me since the beginning of my practice in 1987. I strongly believes in a holistic approach to dentistry, believing that your overall health impacts your oral health.

I had been seeing Dr. Lori as my dentist for the past 6-7 years. Beyond the dental services, I always appreciated how she and her staff treated patients. However, my recent experience has changed my perspective.I had a crown that came off and needed fixing, so I called and made an appointment. During the visit, they told me the crown had to be replaced at a cost of approximately $600. I was expecting to have my old crown fixed. Since I wasn’t ready for the expense, I asked if they could do a temporary fix, and I would consider replacing it next year when my insurance would cover it.At this point, the hygienist and Dr. Lori became upset and claimed they had left me a voicemail stating the crown needed replacement. I hadn’t received any such message and showed them all my voicemails to prove it. Moreover, I didn’t understand how they decided the crown needed replacement without even examining it. The office staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Lori is so kind and really takes the time to get know to her patients in order to provide the best services. We love going to the dentist now!
