About
I'm not your average dental surgeon. I'm also a mother of a tongue tied baby. Because of him, I developed a professional focus on laser tongue tie and lip tie releases. This procedure profoundly improved our breastfeeding relationship. In dental school at University of Maryland and during my residency at Johns Hopkins, I could not have imagined my clinical focus now. After the birth of my son, I sought additional training in Montreal, Utah, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston to learn how to better serve the needs of mothers and babies struggling with feeding issues due to tongue ties. You could say I've become a bit obsessed learning to deliver excellent care in this arena. I'm a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals, (yes. that is a real organization.) Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. 95% of my dental practice is laser revisions on babies younger than 12 months. We do occasionally see older children and adults needing the laser frenectomy. I speak regularly on the topic to dentists, pediatricians, ob/gyns, lactation consultants, speech language pathologists, and breastfeeding mothers.
