About
Dr. MaryEvan Thacker grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Saint Ursula Academy in the class of 2005. After becoming interested in orthodontics at a young age, Dr. MaryEvan worked as a chair side technician at Thacker Orthodontics during the summer through high school and college. She received her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Medicine, Health, & Society, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN in 2009. Dr. MaryEvan earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and third in her class in May of 2013. In January of 2013 Dr. MaryEvan was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, National Honor Dental Society, for her academic performance during dental school. During dental school she received many other awards including the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain Outstanding Senior Award, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Horace Wells Senior Student Award, the Professor Leonard C. Waite Outstanding Performance Award: Pharmacology and Dental Therapeutics, Top 10% in Basic Sciences: Microbiology, Pharmacology, and membership to The Delphi Society for outstanding academic performance and professional interest in biodental sciences. In May of 2014, Dr. MaryEvan recently completed a one year Craniofacial Biology program at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Orthodontics, where she and Dr. Thacker worked together on research on the clinical significance of mandibular dental arch expansion using an E-Arch appliance in the mixed dentition. Beginning in July of 2014, Dr. MaryEvan will be working to complete her three year orthodontic residency training at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where Dr. Thacker also received his orthodontic training. At Boston University Dr. MaryEvan will receive a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry. After completing her orthodontic residency in Boston, Dr. MaryEvan and her husband, Stuart, are looking forward to returning to Cincinnati where she will be joining Team Thacker full time!
