About
Dr Joosse hails from the Richmond area and attended William and Mary. After college, he worked in the Undergraduate Admission office at W&M, representing the College around the state. He went to dental school at the University of Pennsylvania on a full scholarship from the United States Air Force and, at Penn, completed a dual-degree program, earning both his DMD and MS in Higher Education Management. He served 5 years as a general dentist in the Air Force, completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Travis AFB, CA and then serving as a general dentist at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. At Davis Monthan, he was awarded Company Grade Officer of the Year for the Medical Group and Company Grade Officer of the Quarter for the entire base. Dr Joosse competed his orthodontic residency training at the University of the Pacific, in San Francisco, CA where he gained a wide variety of experience, including studying under some of the pioneers and experts in Invisalign. His wife, Alexandra, is a professor in the Public Policy program at William and Mary; they have been married 8 years and have two boys: Peter (4), Asher (2), and a baby girl on the way. Family is extremely important to Dr Joosse and part of the impetus for the move back to Virginia: his parents recently retired to Williamsburg and Alex has family in the DC area. Dr Joosse enjoys being active: running (especially trail running), skiing, ultimate Frisbee, soccer, mountain biking, and tennis (to name a few). In his own words: "I love orthodontics because I know how much it can change one's life. As a kid, I refused to smile because I didn't want anyone to see my jacked-up teeth. Orthodontics changed my life and gave me the self-confidence to finally smile." "I'm so excited to be back serving the people of Virginia! During my time working in undergraduate admissions, I was proud to represent my alma mater, but the most gratifying part of the job was the notion that I was serving the public, helping to defuse the anxiety that often surrounds the college admission process. That desire to serve the people of VA has never left."
