About
Dr. Barno received his BS in Biology from The Citadel and attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina on a full scholarship. In between undergraduate and dental school, Dr Barno studied Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University. Following dental school, Dr Barno joined the U.S. Army Dental Corps and completed a 1-year AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency that focused heavily on comprehensive dentistry, surgery, and complex treatment planning. He is an active member of the SC Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. His professional interests lie in cosmetic and restorative dentistry (Crowns, Bridges, Dentures, and Implants) and endodontics (root canals). In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. He enjoys sculpture, playing drums, and running. He and his family live in Blythewood and are members of Blythewood Presbyterian Church. Dr Barno's wife, Michaela, is the manager of the Blythewood Farmer's Market. Dr Barno is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and was awarded the Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Star Medal for his service in combat with the 25th Infantry Division. He is a graduate of the US Army Airborne school, the Combat Casualty Care Course, and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology's Forensic Dentistry course.
