About
Dr. Michael Fleitz was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and is the youngest of four children, two brothers and one sister. After graduating from St. John's Jesuit High School, Dr. Fleitz attended Miami University on a full scholarship, the Chick Evans Scholarship. He received a B.A. in Microbiology in 1996, and graduated from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 2002. Upon graduation, Dr. Fleitz moved to Greenville, North Carolina to pursue a General Practice Residency at East Carolina University, Pitt County Memorial Hospital. In August 2003, Dr. Fleitz joined forces with Dr. Jeffrey A. Tilson in Gahanna, Ohio, and they have had an amazing partnership ever since. Dr. Fleitz is very active within the dental community with memberships in more than ten professional organizations including the Columbus Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, Central Dental Forum Study Club, and Seattle Study Club. While in dental school, Dr. Fleitz met his wife, Dr. Rachel E. O'Dell, and they were married in Maui in 2009. They currently reside in New Albany with a special kitten, Romeo. Outside of the office, Dr. Fleitz loves to travel, both within the US and abroad, and plays a lot of golf. His real passion recently has been running, and he has completed more than 30 full marathons and ultramarathons. In 2009, Dr. Fleitz lost a very special staff member to cancer and founded the Janet Memorial Golf Tournament and Garden Party. Since inception in 2010, this annual event has raised more than $60,000 to benefit Janet's favorite charity, Helping Hands in the Garden. This volunteer organization is dedicated to helping people with cancer by caring for their gardens while they undergo cancer treatment and recovery.
