About
Dr. Michael Munaretto is honored to be the newest associate endodontist at Cameo Endodontics. Dr. Munaretto strives to continue the high standard of endodontic specialty practice at Cameo Endodontics that his uncles (Dr. Rich and Dr. Ray), cousin (Dr. Rick), and Dr. Keith Sommers have established. Dr. Munaretto attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He graduated with Bronze Tablet Honors, which is the highest academic honor at Illinois and is awarded to the top 3% of students. Dr. Munaretto was then accepted into the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Munaretto was extremely proud to be named Valedictorian, and was awarded the Dr. James R. Havera award for earning the highest academic and clinical grade point average in his class. During his four years in dental school, Dr. Munaretto earned several more awards including the Dr. William McElroy Award for outstanding achievement in Endodontics, the Dr. Gerald Wine Award for excellence in interaction with faculty and patients, the Sullivan-Schein Award for excellence in Implant Dentistry, and the Delta Sigma Delta Award for most outstanding academic achievement in his graduating class. Finally, upon graduation he was inducted into UIC's chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honors society. Upon graduation, Dr. Munaretto was immediately accepted into post-doctoral advanced specialty training in Endodontics at University of Illinois-Chicago College of Dentistry, where he gained experience and proficiency in both nonsurgical and surgical endodontics. During his residency Dr. Munaretto earned a Master's Degree in Oral Sciences following successful defense of his thesis utilizing Cone-Beam Computed Tomography to detect the position of the mental foramen. Dr. Munaretto is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, Windy City Seminars (Seattle Study Club), and Edgar D. Coolidge Endodontic Study Club. He looks forward to becoming more involved in the Chicago Dental Society and taking leadership positions in the Windy City Seminars. Dr. Munaretto currently lives in Chicago. During his free time he enjoys traveling, exercising, and enthusiastically supporting the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears, and Cubs as well as the Illinois Fighting Illini football team. He also speaks Spanish.
