About
Dr Nancy Cole was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina so she is a true Southerner. For college, she attended the University of North Carolina (UNC) in Chapel Hill and received a Bachelors of Science in Science Teaching. She returned to UNC and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). During her time in dental school, she had the opportunity to participate in two internships. Because the pediatric program was her favorite in dental school and she loved with children, both of her choices were internships providing treatment to children. Upon graduation, she practiced dentistry in Virginia as an associate and then as an owner of her own practice. She later returned to her original passion and started working for the Commonwealth of Virginia in their Public Health Division. She helped start and ran an award winning program in Caroline County that was a grassroots project. Caroline County had seen that there was an urgent need for dental care for many of its’ school aged children, so a committee was formed to help find a solution to the problem. One of the major reasons the program was one of the most successful in the state was because of the amazing community support. Ask her to show you the “Jiggle, Wiggle, 1,2, 3” dance that she used to teach the Head Start kids how to brush! Dr Cole continued to work with the children in the public health sector and eventually transferred to Savannah, Georgia with the company that was her employer in Richmond, Virginia. After that company was sold to a new corporation, she then made the journey up to Atlanta. Having close friends that live in Atlanta, she had visited many times as well as having attended the large Hinman Dental Conference. She always took as may courses in pediatric dentistry as possible. Even though Dr Cole is a general dentist, she is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as various other organizations. She will tell you that her patients are “her” kids: she does not have any children of her own unless you count her animals (she certainly considers them her family!). When Dr Cole isn’t working to try and get children to understand that THEY are responsible for their teeth and the “suga bugs”, she spends as much time as she can with her dog and her horse. She will happily share stories and pictures of both of them.
