Dr. Sean completed his undergraduate education at Binghamton University in New York, studying political science and economics. Pursuing his interest in dentistry, he later completed dental training at the Stonybrook University School of Dental Medicine in New York. He was the recipient of the Shapells Married Couple scholarship and spent a year studying abroad in Israel with his wife after completing dental school. Following his year abroad, Dr. Sean completed specialized training in periodontics at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. He simultaneously completed his masters degree in dental science. After his specialty training, Dr. Sean moved back to Albany to join his father at Capital Region Periodontics.Dr. Sean is board certified in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, and the American Dental Association. His dental interests include bone regeneration, implant dentistry, and soft tissue grafting.When not caring for his patients, Dr. Sean enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with his wife and three kids.

I am so grateful I decided to have found this place to get my gum graft. I went in for surgery and Dr. Sean was amazing. Everyone who worked there I felt was compassionate and made me feel comfortable. I had such anxiety. The person Who met with me in the beginning to go over stuff was also amazing. I forgot his name, but my anxiety went down talking to him. I recommend going here to anyone who is fearful and needs reassurance. I also did not feel any pain during the procedure and after I was given him medication’s to help.

Dr Sean is a gifted and talented doctor. We have been seeing him for two years to do full upper and lower dental implants, bone grafting and sinus lift surgery. He is so kind and caring and with each surgery explained everything that was involved and went above and beyond to make sure the surgery was successful. I would recommend Dr Sean and everyone at the office to anyone needing complex oral surgery or dental implants.

Although the treatment went well, the fact that I was promised that my insurance would be filed so that I could be reimbursed, which did NOT happen, is UNPROFESSIONAL and unacceptable. I could have found a periodontist in my network, or one whose office staff had a clue. Now I am out hundreds of dollars. I do not recommend this office. Incompetent and uncaring.

This was the first time I saw Dr Sean Ference (previously saw his dad) and he tried to aggressively push me to get scaling every 3 months. Previously his dad said my gums didn't need any active treatment and only yearly checkup. I recently went to my dentist and he said scaling was absolutely unnecessary. I’ve never written a negative medical review before but I truly feel Dr Sean Ference is trying to get additional work/revenue for himself rather than looking out for true patient needs. I will never go back to this practice after bring a loyal patient for 10 years. I understand they now need to support 2 periodontists but this cannot be at the patient’s expense/time.
