About
Dr. Holman attended Duke University for her undergraduate degree where she graduated with honors. She then attended University of Maryland for both dental and graduate school, earning a D.D.S. and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. During her Ph.D. training, she studied the physiology of swallowing in order to understand how to manage patients with swallowing disorders (dysphagia). She then completed a fellowship in Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and General Dentistry in a joint program between the University of Maryland and the Veteran Affairs Medical Center at Perry Point, MD. This fellowship allowed her to gain advanced skills doing root canals, placing bone grafts, implants and other complex surgical procedures on medically complex patients. Dr. Holman is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry as well as the American Dental Association and it's local group, the Durham Orange Dental Society. She also serves as a co-advisor to the Duke pre-Dental Society which she co-founded as a pre-dental student at Duke University many years ago.
