Dr. Steven Luccarelli loves his work. With new technology and a new facility, he loves it more now than ever. He has been practicing orthodontics in the East Williston and Mineola area for nearly 30 years. Dr. Luccarelli takes great pride in delivering the highest level of patient care possible, but has always made the commitment to provide it in a warm and caring atmosphere. His vision of excellent treatment is for his patients to have a beautiful, healthy smile with an experience that is nothing short of exceptional. He wants you to feel at home and feel as though you were treated like family. EDUCATION Dr. Luccarelli graduated from Fordham University in 1981, where he received the Excellence in Pre-medicine Award and played Division 1 baseball as a centerfielder. He continued his education at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society and received several other honors, including the Excellence in Pediatric and Operative Dentistry Award. Dr. Luccarelli completed his clinical specialty training and earned his orthodontic certificate from Columbia University in 1987, and was elected president of his class. Wanting to achieve the highest level of education possible, he became board certified in 1998 and was awarded Diplomate Status from the American Board of Orthodontics in May of that year. For the past ten years, Dr. Luccarelli has been honored by his peers by being voted Best Dentist through topDentists™ and has been voted as a 2016 Doctor of Distinction from the Long Island Pulse. He has been a clinical professor of orthodontics at Columbia University for the past 30 years and is the director of orthodontics at Winthrop University’s dental residency program. CONTINUING EDUCATION Dr. Luccarelli recognizes the importance of staying current with the rapid changes in orthodontics and spends in excess of 100 hours a year on continuing education. He teaches orthodontics at Columbia University and has been a clinical professor there for more than 20 years. He was president of the Columbia Orthodontic Alumni Society in 1991 and is an active member of their executive board. He is also chairman of the Mid-Nassau Dental Study Club and is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, American Board of Orthodontics, and New York Dental Society. He lectures throughout the country, is a consultant for 3M and Sybron technologies in orthodontic research and development, and has been awarded a patent in orthodontic instrument design. TREATMENT SPECIALIZATION As a result of Dr. Luccarelli’s extensive training and continuing education, he offers the latest orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign®, Invisalign Teen®, non-surgical orthopedic (jaw growing) appliances, and cutting-edge techniques such as laser soft tissue treatment and TADs, which allow him to treat patients without jaw surgery or make previously difficult treatments easier. PROFESSIONAL DENTAL ORGANIZATIONS AND MEMBERSHIPS Dr. Luccarelli considers it his personal obligation to provide the highest quality of orthodontic care to his patients. He has earned the prestigious board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics, which highlights his ability to deliver quality care. Memberships in several professional organizations allow Dr. Luccarelli to stay on the cutting edge of improvements and technological advances in orthodontics through continued education. He is very involved in community activities such as civic associations, charities, and coaching local athletic teams. Dr. Luccarelli, his wife, and their two children live in Oyster Bay and enjoy all the area has to offer.
