About
From a young age, Dr. Lucas became interested in the health profession. He was fascinated by teeth and loved to make people smile. These traits grew into a desire to pursue dentistry to help people make a confident and better first impression so they are comfortable with their smile. Dr. Lucas holds multiple degrees from the University of Alabama (UAB). In addition to his training and degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) he has earned a PhD in Materials Engineering with an emphasis in the study of Dental Bioceramics. Focused on the development of materials in the design and manufacture of dental implants and dental restorations (fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, etc.), Dr. Lucas chose the bioceramic concentration because he loves staying on the leading edge of new technological advances in dentistry. Dr. Lucas is a proponent for continual learning in health care; he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and has published several articles on dental research and materials in peer-reviewed journals. Outside of the office Dr. Lucas loves spending time with the wonderful women in his life, his wife Kelly, their 3 daughters and a female dog. He also enjoys golfing and bird hunting. The Lucas family is active in church; they are members of the Church of the Highlands where Dr. Lucas also serves as a first responder for medical emergencies.
