About
Dr. Thomas E. Shaw, III is a general dentist who has practiced since 1982. He is experienced in all phases of general dentistry with over 5 years in public health, 25 years in his solo family dental practice, over 3 years teaching senior dental students as a clinical/adjunct faculty member, just under a year in a university health center, and over 4 years in group general practice. His particular interests include endodontics(root canals), oral surgery(extractions), implant restorations, orthodontics(Invisalign), and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Shaw received a B.S. in Chemistry from Florida Southern College, graduating summa cum laude, a M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and graduated in 1982 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Emory University School of Dentistry. He attended Emory on a NHSC scholarship and at graduation was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Dr. Shaw is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the Northwestern District Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He attained Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1991. This designation requires a minimum of 500 hours of post-doctoral education in all areas of dentistry and the successful completion of a comprehensive examination. Throughout his years in public health and in general practice, Dr. Shaw has given back to his community by helping the underserved population, participating in school education and sealant programs, and participating in health fairs.
