About
W. Stan Hardesty, DDS graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 1993 and began practicing general dentistry in Rocky Mount, NC. He relocated to Raleigh, NC in 1994 where he currently practices comprehensive general dentistry. Early in his career, Dr. Hardesty served as an adjunct clinical assistant professor in Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry and taught in the comprehensive care clinics on a part time basis from 1996 until 2006. In 2004, Dr. Hardesty was elected to the NC State Board of Dental Examiners after having served as a deputy examiner for several years. He served as President of the Board from 2007-2008. During his tenure on the Board, Dr. Hardesty helped to found and incorporate the Council of Interstate Testing Agencies, Inc. (CITA), the youngest of the five regional dental testing agencies with other NC State Dental Board members. He served as CITA's president from 2008-2013. Dr. Hardesty has served nationally as a Commissioner for the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and as member of the Council on Dental Education and Licensure. On the state and local level, Dr. Hardesty is a past chair of the Wake Technical Community College Dental Hygiene Advisory Board, a past member of the Wake Technical Community College Dental Assisting Advisory Board and is a Past President of the North Carolina Dental Society and is a member of the NCDS Dental Benefits Advisory Committee. Dr. Hardesty is also an at-large delegate for the NCDS to the American Dental Association. He has served numerous positions in organized dentistry at the local, state and national level including Fourth District delegate to the NCDS house, Past President of the NCAGD, and the Raleigh/Wake County Dental Society, past member of the UNC Dental Alumni Association Board of Directors, peer review mediator for the Fourth District and past member of the Board of Directors for the NC Caring Dental Professionals. Throughout his time in organized dentistry, he has enjoyed and valued his service to his colleagues and to his patients to represent the profession he loves.
