Detailed Introduction

Aspen Dental, officially known as Aspen Dental Management, Inc. (ADMI), is a prominent American dental support organization (DSO) that supports a vast network of independently owned and operated Aspen Dental-branded dentistry locations across the United States. Founded in 1998 in East Syracuse, NY, Aspen Dental has grown significantly to over 1,100 locations nationwide. The core mission of Aspen Dental is to break down barriers to dental care, focusing on accessibility, affordability, and providing quality treatment in a judgment-free environment. They target individuals who may not have a regular dental provider or face financial hurdles to receiving care. Many Aspen Dental practices are strategically located in areas identified as "dental deserts" where there is a significant need for dental providers. Aspen Dental operates on a dental support organization (DSO) model. This means that while each Aspen Dental office is independently owned by a licensed dentist, ADMI provides comprehensive non-clinical business support services. These services include marketing, operations, training, human resources, payroll administration, regulatory compliance, procurement of equipment and supplies, real estate management, and even developing digital patient platforms. This allows the dentists to focus primarily on patient care and clinical decisions, while the business aspects are managed by ADMI. Aspen Dental also offers a "Practice Ownership Program" that provides a structured path for dentists to become practice owners with the backing of ADMI's support teams. The range of services offered at Aspen Dental locations is extensive, covering various dental needs. These include general dentistry (check-ups, cleanings), cosmetic dentistry (teeth whitening, veneers, crowns, clear aligners like Motto®), restorative procedures (fillings, bridges, dentures, dental implants), and specialized treatments such as oral surgery (extractions, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting) and endodontics (root canals). They also provide emergency dental care for urgent issues like severe toothaches, broken teeth, and gum bleeding. Aspen Dental emphasizes patient comfort and aims to alleviate dental anxiety. They work with patients to discuss treatment plans, sedation options, and financing. They are committed to keeping prices low and offer financing plans, with or without insurance, to make care more accessible. While Aspen Dental has a large patient base and many positive testimonials, it has also faced scrutiny and complaints, particularly regarding billing practices and treatment recommendations, as seen in some online reviews and Better Business Bureau complaints. Despite these, the company continues to expand its reach and services, striving to provide comprehensive dental solutions across the country.

I'm not sure why the negative reviews but I didn't have the same experience. I was explained everything to me in advance, in a clear and simple manner. No one was rude and uncaring. I had come from another dental establishment after a horrible experience and they offered me options on what treatment plan worked for me. They filed my insurance for me and offered different payment options to cover what my insurance didnt cover. I was nervous about self pay because I had already paid the other place $2811.

00 and had to put that on my credit card and waiting for a partial refund. All in all I had a good experience. I'd have given 5 stars if the price was lower. That was the only downfall and only complaint I had.

The assistant was super, the dentist was super and the office manager was great. It just really sucks to get your hopes up for something like implants to replace the teeth you've lost to make your smile look great again. Unless your rich it's not gonna happen for you.

🙄💔🥺 They should really come up with some kind of help for people that don't have a lot of money and make it to where this could be an option for them also.

If I could give NO STARS that would be my choice!!! Worst dentist office I’ve been to. .

you make a appointment online to only be harassed by emails before your visit and phone calls… to get there and have people be called back before you that had a later appointment! Then wanted to do a full head x-ray for 1 chipped tooth!!!!! This place is a joke…Then I sit in the room for 40 minutes waiting on the dentist a Dr. Woo that wanted to get started on a set of dentures for me and even told me I needed a crown when I specifically said I just need the tooth filled … something I already had done several times with no problems literally takes 10 minutes!!! So when I didn’t want to go with what he wanted refused to fix my tooth telling me they wouldn’t have time due to the fact that I was a new patient and that takes time I would need to come back the next day!! After I had to leave work early just to get there on time and confirmed appointment with the lady that called me the day before appointment plus confirmed online that I needed a chipped tooth fixed! I WOULD SAY RUN DON’T WALK DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!! THEY ARE ALL ABOUT MAKING AND CHARGING THE MOST MONEY THEY POSSIBLY CAN WHILE NOT TALKING OR LISTENING TO WHAT THE PATIENT WANTS!!! AWFUL PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!

Aspen Dental messed up our appointment. We booked an appointment over a month in advance for our son. About 3-4 weeks before the appointment they sent texts to confirm insurance information. No problem there, we called in the same day as the texts and they said it’s all good and they could handle it when we come in. Showed up to the appointment today that was scheduled for 11:00am and they told us because we didn’t confirm the appointment verbally on a phone call that they had to cancel the appointment. This was a 40 minute drive to get to the office, and because of work, it’s one of 2 days that my wife gets to spend with our kids all day long. They rescheduled the appointment for 1, which ends up eating about 4 hours of the day before all is said and done. Multiple issues here. First, they didn’t call to confirm the appointment at any point in the 2 weeks leading to the appointment. We actually did call them, as mentioned above , to address any potential insurance concerns. There was no indication given that the appointment would be canceled even if they had called us, which they did not.

I called in to express frustration, and get answers on how this process works. I spoke to someone on the phone who said she was sorry I was inconvenienced. I asked if they had record that they called , and she immediately got defensive and started saying things like “you just don’t want to listen to me” and other lines that sound that way. The questions I wanted answered were 1. ) Is there anything in your messaging that says we will cancel your appointment if not confirmed. 2. ) Do you have any records that you actually called. Neither of these questions were answered , and they still haven’t been answered. She instead she HAD in fact answered all my questions and when I asked for the answers to the two questions above , she asked if I wanted to keep our 1:00 rescheduled appointment. I would argue that this question was said with sarcasm or possibly a tone that suggested she might just cancel it altogether. When I said yes I want the appointment, but I would also like my questions answered, she abruptly hung up.

I called back and talked to someone different who was much more pleasant to deal with. She said something about a gas card that could be given to us through some sort of corporate request. I said my piece to her and ended it there, as I said she was perfectly fine to talk to. Overall, I’m pretty annoyed by this place. The weird canceling of an appointment is one thing, but the first person I dealt with on the phone just made it worse. She apologized for the inconvenience , but never actually took any responsibility for messing it up. It’s like they were saying sorry, but we actually didn’t mess up at all. We weren’t called…unless my wife staged the whole thing and deleted missed calls from her phone log to trick me…which seems pretty unlikely. I’d recommend going elsewhere to a place with people that are grown up enough to recognize when they’ve made a basic human mistake.
