Detailed Introduction

Bluegrass Endodontics is a highly specialized dental practice with locations in Lexington and Georgetown, Kentucky. The clinic is dedicated exclusively to endodontic care, a branch of dentistry focused on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the dental pulp and surrounding tissues of the tooth. The practice is led by respected endodontic specialists, Dr. S. Douglas Cox, DMD, MS, and Dr. Merunissa Lambat, DMD, MS, who are specialist members of the American Association of Endodontists. They also have other doctors such as Dr. Neil Miller, DDS, MS. Bluegrass Endodontics aims to provide the highest standard of professional care in a friendly and comfortable environment. They understand that many patients may have anxieties about dental treatment and strive to make each visit as comfortable as possible, offering a gentle touch and compassionate approach. Their comprehensive range of endodontic services includes, but is not limited to: Root Canal Therapy: The primary treatment for infected or inflamed dental pulp, designed to save a damaged tooth. Endodontic Retreatment: Addressing previously treated teeth where the initial root canal may have failed or developed new issues. Apicoectomy: A surgical procedure to remove the tip of the tooth's root and surrounding infected tissue when conventional root canal treatment isn't sufficient. Treatment for Cracked Teeth: Diagnosing and treating cracks that extend into the pulp. Traumatic Dental Injuries: Managing and treating teeth that have been dislodged or knocked out. The clinic prides itself on utilizing advanced technology to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficiency. This includes digital radiography (which significantly reduces radiation exposure), surgical operating microscopes for enhanced visibility, and potentially cone beam (3D) imaging for a more comprehensive view of the tooth and surrounding structures. For patients with dental anxiety, they also offer sedation options such as oral sedation and nitrous oxide ("laughing gas"). Bluegrass Endodontics emphasizes clear communication with patients, explaining diagnoses and treatment options thoroughly. They also work closely with referring dentists to ensure continuity of care and the best possible long-term outcomes for patients' natural teeth.

Last fall I needed a root canal and I was in a lot of pain. Dr. Cox was short and unkind, and scheduled me for a root canal after I finished antibiotics. Two days later the pain worsened and I went back to the office, but he didn't even look in my mouth, just gave me pain meds and sent me away again. If he had looked, he would have known my tooth cracked.

I had large sores in my mouth after the root canal, which he did not finish. On the second visit he sedated me then blamed me for not being able to open my mouth wide enough to finish. He was rude to my mother and did not consider the fact I was drugged when he was rude to my mom (my driver)who was tring to physically support me so we could leave. They would not answer questions when I called for the next week, and refused to treat me further. When I found a new endontist, I was told I never had the root canal, and the new doctor started from the beginning.

I was in pain for months because of delay in care from Dr. Cox. His treatment of me was inexcusable.

To the receptionists that laughed at my daughter because she doesn't understand what a copay is I hope you're pleased with yourself for making a young adult cry. Where she's from and you go to a specialist, they call you BEFORE your appointment to tell you what your insurance doesn't cover. Thank you for making her first root canal a terrible experience. Where she's from general dentists do root canals but I was assured by many parents on the Uk Message board that endo's make it a lot easier. So I wasn't as annoyed with the process. But you made a young adult with dental anxiety cry. To the person being trained.

. . your trainer was wrong and you should never do this to a patient. An explanation would have been enough. People are genuinely scared of dental procedures and you should handle that with compassion. The only reason this isn't a one star review is because she said the doctors/assistants were great. Without the unkind receptionist this would have been a glowing review and I would have posted our positive experience on the parents board at UK.

I won't now. Now I can warn other parents that although the doctors are good, the front office staff at this location is not. My child is 3 hrs from home going to her first specialist of any kind without me and I would have loved if you could have shown my daughter some compassion. You could have explained it to her and she would have had an amazing experience. But you laughed at her. Shame on you.

First visit and highly satisfied! From front office staff, to the Dr and his assistant, also can’t forget the lovely check out lady! Everyone was so kind and helpful when it came to educating me about my procedure. This was my first time having a root canal and it was such a great experience.

The doctor made sure I was comfortable multiple times throughout my procedure. I am so glad my dentist referred me to them!

The best experience I’ve had with anything dental. I have a lot of dental anxiety and needed a root canal, I was dreading it and scared. Dr. Cox was, nice patient, and reassuring. The total procedure was maybe 30 minutes and completely painless. Cannot recommend Dr. Cox and his staff more!
