I have had an amazing experience with Cheng Dental. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia (very rare chronic pain condition that affects my teeth and face), TMJ, and dental trauma from years ago, the team at Cheng Dental have been absolutely amazing. I needed a root canal, lots of fillings, a crown and night guard. Dr.
Cheng and his team worked so well with me, answered all my questions, and put me at ease. The receptionists are the sweetest and everyone knows who I am, and calls me by my first name. :) A special shout-out to Amka, she is AMAZING and so patient. Highly recommend Cheng Dental!

I was referral here by my daughters dentist in Greenbrier Chesapeake. I drove 48 Minutes away just to see Dr. cheng. The staff, atmosphere and Everything just felt like home. I was so happy that they were able to see my daughter in such a short period of time.
They really took care of her made her feel comfortable, and Even though this place is 48 minutes away, I am willing to drive to see Dr. Cheng and staff anytime Thank you so much. I will see you guys soon. !

Very nice environment. Unprofessional front desk. We called them at the end of last year and they confirmed they took our insurance. My wife got a cleaning done and really enjoyed the environment. In December, I was in need of two crowns and got X-rays to verify. I was then told by the front desk that they would wait until Jan. 5th to process with insurance to make sure they would cover it and because their office was closing for Holiday break. They also said it could take up to 8 weeks for approval. Some months go by and I call up to set up a cleaning and to inquire about the crowns. The lady who answered the phone was new and didn’t know what to do. She handed the call off to another lady. When I asked about why I hadn’t heard back from anyone she explained we owed them money for my wife’s cleaning and my x-ray. I said, both of those are covered annually.
She explained she sent us a bill. I told her we did not receive one. I told her that I would call her back in a few to settle my bill. My wife called our insurance and they explained that this dentist was out of network which is why we were being billed. I understand that, noted for next time. We explained that the front desk told us they took our insurance. The rep said, unfortunately that is a common thing and that the follow up question should be “are you in network” because some offices have no problem saying they take your insurance to get you in the door. My wife then called the office back and said she wanted to pay our bills. The lady’s first words were, “Yeah your insurance really sucks. ” To which my wife responded, “Actually, it doesn’t, you guys are out of our network. You guys told us you took our insurance and that’s why we went with you. ” She then said, “Oh, I’m sorry, that’s my fault, I’ll just wipe your cleaning bill. We used to be in network with them.
” We were still required to pay my x-ray bill. My tension isn’t having to pay the bill, that was done. It was the unprofessional manner in which the lady communicated and misrepresented their office. You should know what insurance your business takes and whether it’s in network or not. There should also be a follow up process for payments. Most companies know who is 30,60,90 days out. This could have been solved within 30 days. I can’t give them a 1-Star because the other staff and the environment are very nice. But I would say training for the front desk is needed. You should never start a conversation off with, “Yeah, your insurance really sucks. ” Perhaps management should listen to the call if you record them.
