Detailed Introduction

Coastal Virginia Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a prominent oral and maxillofacial surgery practice serving the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Norfolk areas of Virginia. It operates as a clinic with multiple locations, including offices on First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach and in Chesapeake. The practice is staffed by a team of experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeons, including Drs. Beale, Yeh, Quigg, and Duncan, who manage a wide variety of issues concerning the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Their comprehensive range of services includes: dental implants: They specialize in the placement of dental implants, offering a durable and natural-looking solution for missing teeth. This involves surgically placing titanium screws into the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots, providing a stable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures. They also perform bone grafting when necessary to rebuild jawbone structure for successful implant placement. Wisdom Teeth Removal: A frequently performed procedure, they expertly handle the extraction of wisdom teeth, including impacted ones, to alleviate pain, prevent misalignment, and address potential oral decay. Corrective Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery): For patients with significant oral health concerns due to jaw misalignment or congenital defects, they perform corrective jaw surgery. This can improve bite, speech, breathing problems, and overall facial aesthetics. Types of jaw surgery include genioplasty (chin reconstruction), maxillary osteotomy (upper jaw correction), and mandibular osteotomy (lower jaw correction). Bone Grafting: This procedure is crucial for patients with deteriorated jawbones, often necessary before dental implant placement, to create a stable foundation. Facial Pain, Injuries, and Fractures: The practice also diagnoses and treats various facial pains, injuries, and fractures. Sedation Options: Understanding that many patients experience dental anxiety, Coastal Virginia Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery offers various sedation options, including local anesthesia, sedation anesthesia, and general anesthesia, to ensure patient comfort during procedures. The clinic emphasizes a patient-first approach, focusing on compassionate care, personalized service, and a comfortable, safe environment. They utilize state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and their offices are designed to be clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with amenities such as TVs in operatories. They are committed to clear communication and strive to make the patient experience as enjoyable as possible.

OMG. I HAD WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTED!! Where do I begin? SKIP TO NEXT PARAGRAPH FOR SUMMARY!! Okay, so I've only had surgery ONCE in my life and I was only 4 years old so I don't remember enough of it to consider it an experience to tell about. So in my ortho treatment I was referred here to do just a supernumerary tooth removal of a baby tooth that never came up to the surface. But, I've never had surgery done before (4 year old experience doesn't count in my book as an experience to tell about if I can't remember the moment myself right? Right. ) so, I of course was nervous that I had to get this done in order to start my orthodontist care. So, I also had 5 wisdom teeth. .

. FIVE!! So, I'm like "what the heck, get them all pulled at once" because I'm one of the toughest gals out here that I know. Everything went great with the consultation and before I knew it I had the official extraction appt booked for 6 teeth removal. I of course grew anxious and hella nervous as the days moved onward and I called almost every other day for some comfort. When I tell you that the staff was there at my beck and call ready to bring me the best comfort and reassurance they could possibly have given me prior to the appt would be an UNDERSTATEMENT. They happily answered all of my questions and put down all of my worries with such grace and compassion. I could literally hear the staff on the other end patiently and kindly access my needs.

I truly believe that that alone worked most of my nerves down. And oh man, when the time came to get it done, they literally held my hand and walked me through the whole thing before I was in and out of slumber (I chose to go to sleep). Oh and 6 teeth removal took about 45min to an hour! DOCTOR DUNCAN AND HIS STAFF WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOR MY FIRST TIME HAVING SURGERY DONE. I can not express enough how much of a positive experience you guys have given me. They really did great and took GREAT care of me! Thank you all so very much. Having been here from WA state since April of 2024 I will admit that going to a new place will always be scary but I'm so glad Dr. Sarah Orthodontics referred me to you all!

I was so comfortable that I couldn’t believe the procedure was done so quickly. I felt zero pain. Their patient care & bed side manner is really top tier!! Loved everything about my visit, 10/10 recommend!
