How Dentalworks uses an opaque and predatory billing system. I’ve been experiencing a lack of transparency. This dental office hasn’t proactively been telling me what something costs unless I insist, and even then, the answers are often vague. When I do bring up budget or ask specific financial questions, some staff have treated me like I’m being “difficult,” for being financially responsible.

They often lean on insurance terms like “outside of coverage window” or “policy lapse” to justify extra charges, even when it’s poor communication on there part that caused the issue. The fact that this has happened at multiple locations under the same company like the one in Crestwood Illinois is a red flag. This is likely a culture of shady billing or systemic neglect.

I had a great experience at DentalWorks. I got all I expected. I had an emergency tooth extraction that went well and plans were made for my future dental care so I'm happy with that. Thank you DentalWorks great job.

Extremely Disappointed – Will Not Be Returning This was my second visit to Dental Works, and both times have been unacceptable. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic communication skills is astounding. I especially had a frustrating experience with the front desk representative, Rina, who seemed completely unable to handle basic tasks. Not only does she struggle with using the computer and understanding the software, but her communication is also poor. I waited over an hour for my scheduled appointment, which I understand can happen, but the lack of transparency or any communication about the delay was frustrating. I had to get up and ask what was going on.

After finally waiting over an hour, Rina then decided to "verify a few things," which should’ve been done when I checked in. When I asked her if there was anything else I needed to fill out, she said, "I can't pull that up right now. " This was just bizarre. She constantly blamed her colleagues and repeatedly said she didn’t know what was going on—how does someone work there and not know these basic things? To make matters worse, after all of this waiting and confusion, Rina presented me with an astronomical price for braces, which was completely different from the quotes I had received on two separate occasions. Thankfully, Monika, the dental assistant, was kind enough to apologize on their behalf and acknowledged how my time was completely wasted. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The lack of professionalism, basic common sense, and proper training here is unacceptable. I suggest they hire new staff who can actually provide a decent level of service. Do not waste your time or money here.

**UPDATE 1-MONTH LATER: Noone from Dental Works has reached out. I still continue to get calls and emails from debt collectors. I called the Dental Works office multiple times, each time they say they will get back to me. Nothing happens. I'll be contacting my insurance and doing additional research to see how I can file additional formal complaints. Last September (2024), I paid over $500 for four fillings and a mouth guard.

I thought it was a bit much but figured that was normal for life in America. Then, Dental Works sent me another bill over $550. Obviously I was concerned so I contacted my Dental Insurance provider and they let me know that all along I only owed around $270 all-in for the services they provided. Not only has Dental Works not reimbursed me for my initial over-payment but they have sent me to collections for the additional $550. I've tried calling the doctors and AP office. They say they will figure it out but do not.

I'm still getting phone calls and bills in the mail from the collections office. I want it to stop and I want to be reimbursed. It's now been 8 months. I've had a terrible experience working with them.
