Detailed Introduction

Dentologie - South Loop is a prominent dental clinic situated at 1259 S Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60605, making it easily accessible in the vibrant South Loop neighborhood. As part of the larger Dentologie group, founded in 2013 by Dr. Suhail Mohiuddin, Dr. Hany Kurdi, and Dr. Oussama Founas, this location embodies the brand's mission to reinvent the traditional dental experience. It operates as a modern, tech-enabled, and patient-focused clinic designed to cater to urban professionals, and is explicitly stated as a "dental group" or "dental studio" rather than an individual practice. The clinic offers a wide array of comprehensive dental services, including general dentistry, preventative care (oral exams, cleanings), cosmetic dentistry (teeth whitening, veneers, Invisalign, enamel shaping, dental bonding), and restorative procedures (fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, dental implants, extractions). They also provide emergency dental services for issues like tooth fractures, pain, and infections. Dentologie - South Loop emphasizes a comfortable and welcoming environment, often described as "trendy" and "aesthetically pleasing," with amenities like in-chair TVs (featuring Disney+), noise-canceling headphones, and Wi-Fi to enhance the patient experience. The clinic prides itself on its "no-judgment" philosophy, aiming to make patients feel at ease regardless of how long it's been since their last dental visit. Their approach is patient-centered, dentist-led, and data-driven, utilizing advanced technology such as 3D scanning for Invisalign and 3D-guided technology for implants to ensure precise and efficient treatments. The team at Dentologie - South Loop comprises multiple dentists and hygienists, indicating a multi-provider clinic structure. They also highlight flexible hours, including extended evening hours, to accommodate busy schedules. For affordability, they accept most major insurance plans and offer a proprietary "Dentologie Plus" care plan for those without comprehensive insurance, which includes cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays, along with savings on various procedures. Patient reviews often praise the friendly and professional staff, efficient service, and the comfortable, modern facilities.

I wish I had read the reviews before choosing this place. I just don't think health care business are going to scam their customers and inever think to get a second opinion. They are unethical and I will be filing a complaint with my insurance company and the state. I came in for a routine cleaning which is covered under my insurance. I gave them my insurance beforehand and they did not acknowledge it before conducting an exam. They told me I needed a deep cleaning but didn't provide proof only calling out numbers and verbally telling me they could not do a regular cleaning. The dentist does his exam and says he needs to replace a crown on my back tooth but did not say why. I was not given a breakdown of cost and what was covered and not covered by my insurance. I should have asked prior to services. They pushed the crown and messed up my appointment for the deep cleaning but managed to fit half of the cleaning and crown replacement in same day.

At the end of the visit I learn I own $1400. I was shocked and panicked as I only wanted a cleaning. I had no pain. I asked for a breakdown and a deatailed list of my insurance coverage and they gave me some treatment plan with my signature superimposed on it. On top of that the crown was porcelain and I asked why I wasn't given the option for a cheaper one as it was a back tooth. They said porcelain was the only option. The treatment sheets they gave me were unclear as in previous dental visits with other dentist, I was informed about cost and options. I found their practices odd. And I still had the second half of the deep cleaning that cost another 400. $2000 of money I didn't have!! I asked for explanations and they just gave me papers.

That I had to ask is so problematic!!! And they told me I needed to do periodontal maintanence in three months where they would clean and polish my teeth for another $150. They used all of my insurance and I still had to pay over $2000 and all I wanted was a cleaning. They are walking distance from my home which was convenient but they scammed me and I'm so angry. I looked at reviews on here and yelp and many people shared similar experiences of upcharging and shady billing. I didn't think to get a second opinion. Please don't go to this dentist they are unethical. Its really sad that business like this are intentionally doing this. But I will be filing complaints,

I broke a crown while visiting from out of town. They were able to get me in that same day, fix the cavity and get me fitted with a new crown all in the same day! Dr Patel and Saul were fabulous. I highly recommend them. In fact I am thinking of making them my dentist - as I come back to Chicago a few times each year!

I wanted to like this place because it’s conveniently located and they take my insurance. But my experience was pretty poor. I found out I had to get a root canal. I have a lot of dental trauma and I explained that to them. The day of my root canal I asked about my partner coming back with me. They said that was fine, and she held my hand out of the way of the doctor during the procedure. I requested nitrous, and 3 times they tried to talk me out of it. During the root canal, they turned down the nitrous, to the point I couldn’t feel it, ignoring my obvious discomfort and anxiety. Only when tears were streaming out of my eyes did he turn it back up. What am I even paying for if the nitrous is off.

When I went back for my crown, my partner was going to come back into the room again. This time we were told “because of HIPAA she couldn’t come back”. That isn’t HIPAA. We called another location to confirm this sudden new policy, and they couldn’t. They admitted there was no such policy. When a third manager called us with a third reason for this discrimination she told on herself stating: “2 days ago an incident happened and the practitioners asked us to not allow people to come back”. They even refunded my girlfriend for their “insurance”, which she had purchased so she could get care there also. There is even more to this, but it was over all ridiculous. Not to mention a rude receptionist who yelled at my partner to “sit down” when she tried to ask questions about HER OWN APPOINTMENT LATER THAT WEEK. We are 2 weeks out now, and my crown is sore and ill fitting.

My gums around it are inflamed from the poor fit, and I feel uncomfortable returning to the office to get it fixed. Why would I, after all this. TLDR: suddenly this place didn’t allow my girlfriend to come into the procedure room with me after allowing it with a smile 2 days earlier. The manager admitted the “new policy” was only at their location at the request of a practitioner there. Not sure if they are homophobic or what, but it was a terrible experience. Avoid. There are plenty of dentists without homophobes working there.

The friendly greet by Kevin and his knowledge. Very professional environment and welcoming. Stephanie the Manager checked on me to make sure I was okay and if I needed anything. She was very attentive. I was very happy with the service I was provided and will definitely recommend the dentist office. Thank you!
