I have been going here for years. While Dr. Jacobo and the other dental staff are pleasant and professional, the office reception is in complete shambles. The receptionists schedule too many patients into the same time slot. The result is that the waiting room often looks like a subway car at rush hour. Your 10:00 AM appointment means nothing.
Consider yourself lucky if you're seen by 11:30. Dr. Jacobo wake up and pay attention. Your receptionists will eventually put you out of business.

I’ve been coming here for about 10 years after the renovations the place just got bad you go in to the office your not leaving for at least another 3 hours. They prioritize there (Hispanic) people and dont care. Every time I come for an appointment it’s a longer wait then the last one I was in there for 4 hours before I was seen. I would recommend going to a different place.
I went there for a yearly check up I was told I had a root canal which I never knew of and it never bothered me. I had to get 2 root canals done and a month later the area got infected causing a boil on my gums I went back and the dentist was not trying to tell me I had an infection they just prescribed me ibropfuen and antibiotics and shaved down the root canal saying it was too much pressure. Never directly told me and tried to avoid saying that I got an infection. I went back 2 weeks later to check up because the boil was still on my gums I went sat there for 2 hours asked for my drags and went somewhere else.
I do believe that they are misdiagnosing people saying they have root canal when they don’t to make extra money. When I was there some one else came in the dentist office with the same exact issue that I had.

If I could give no stars, I would. Where to begin?! You make an appointment, like you would at any “civilized professional dental office”, only to arrive in a “first come, first serve “ situation. Unclear what their actual system is though because it’s just a total zoo of people & your 9am might actually be noon , or later ! 2nd, I am still trying to do dental damage control to all the alleged unnecessary work that totally damaged the integrity of my teeth.
I never in my life had cavities or had to have fillings until I came here and suddenly I had 4 cavities?! Yet I get regular cleanings and dental checks all my life, never a cavity. A little Suss, but I was new to NYC, young, naive (with really good insurance) - so I didn’t question it. It didn’t take long for me to find a new (professional/ reliable ) dentist that explained to me that I likely did not need the work that was done, and even if it did have cavities (I question this ) that the fillings were drilled way too deep into The tooth (all 4 of them) which compromised the teeth integrity and I will likely continue to have issues in those teeth going forward.
Um, sadly, that dentist has been 100% right! I can’t say for certain if the work she did was or Wasn’t necessary (hey, maybe, moving to NYC suddenly rendered me cavity prone, lol) but what I CAN say that I trust my dentist now, have not have any other cavities since, AND that the old fillings she put in that were placed way too deep have all had to be replaced, which means drilling the old filling out and further into the tooth to remove it. It’s been years and I am still dealing with this- so a word of warning to anyone looking for a new dentist - trust google reviews - they don’t lie .

I never felt any of the dentists, nurses, or receptionists prioritized Hispanics over non-Hispanics. I'm pretty sure Dr. Amarilis Jacobo is Dominican herself, and if you know anything about Dominicans, they are a very tight-knit community (as least from my experience living with Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, and Black Americans and I was born/raised a few blocks from this office). Their comradery with one another does not correlate to the way they treat other people. I have been going to this dentist for a minute, and I ain't going nowhere else. And y'all complaining about the wait times, but literally thats the case with most doctor appointments in NYC.
Everyone is BUSY. But anyways, they treat me with kindness here. I have a complex heart condition and they're always on top of it, ensuring each time that my cleanings don't interfere with my heart in any way. There's never been issues with my insurance. And yea, I think they deserve at least 4 stars.
