Seen Dr. Gideon in January for a root canal. I have super high anxiety and fear of any dental care. He explained everything to me and eased my mind. It went smoothly and pain-free. Today, went to see Dental Hygienist Maritizza for a cleaning. I usually hate getting my teeth cleaned because I have super sensitive gums and teeth, hence why the cleaning was so important.
😉 She was fantasic, super nice, gave me some numbing stuff to help with pain. Not sure why no other Hygienists don't use this stuff. Well, she did a great job and learned a few things too. Felt no pain and have another cleaning scheduled with her. Thank you to Dr. Gideon and Martizza so much and the information to help me better take care of my teeth!

They have an asinine policy whereas if a particular dentist who bounces from location to location gives you an X-ray a year ago, that same dentist is supposed to do the procedure. Nevermind that your appointment is set out a month or so because of said dentist schedule. Nevermind that they were sent referrals several times over the last month and claim they didn’t receive it.
My question is, if that’s the case, why are you taking current X-rays just to tell me this after the fact? Shouldn’t it then go to the current dentist since this is now 2025 and not 2024? This is the first time I’ve ever experienced this with a dentist office , especially if the patient requires a root canal. I’ve had walk in appointments for a root canal, which is considered a priority surgery given that infection and the possible loss of the tooth is at stake. If you’re a Veteran don’t go to ANY of their locations.
I will be filing a complaint with Veterans Affairs, so hopefully no one else gets the runaround like I did.

My dentist started by saying that this procedure would be as painful as a normal filling. Normal fillings typically don't hurt so it shouldn't be so bad, right? I let my coworkers woes get to me, the fear of the pain that will persist through the next few days. . but it had to be done. The pain of a root canal will hopefully strike a chord in me to do better with my oral health. I was rather nervous walking up to this place. The office is hard to locate as it's a bit different than I was used to - it's on the second floor, an elevator is available for those with mobility issues. Once I arrived, the deposit was $400, with a refund coming back in the mail for whatever amount insurance covered. The receptionist was nice and I was seen within minutes of my appointment time. (I was asked to come 30 minutes early for paperwork.
) The nurse was amazing, willing to answer questions, etc. The room was small, it looked like they did that so they could fit many to do more at a time - I didn't mind. The technology seemed a bit dated, not that I was worried about it. The doctor came in, Michael Gideon. He seemed to be in a bit of a rush, though the appointment was an hour long. He was strategic, I never thought he made a mistake, everything he did, he had a purpose for it and everything seemed very organized. They gave me some shots and attached the silicon dental dam in around the single tooth. My mouth was propped open with a rubber stop, very comfortable but your jaw gets tired after a while. So, the operation itself? I didn't feel a thing. I told the nurse - this was actually less painful than a filling.
I told the doctor that he must've hit those shots dead on, I couldn't imagine it going any better than it did. I was asked to pay at the end and, with all my raving, asked to leave a review. Well, here it is. If I had to have another root canal, I will go here. As for the aftershock, yes, my jaw hurt for a while. My tooth felt foreign in my mouth and I couldn't stop rubbing my gums for the day. It hurt to chew on that side of my mouth (when food would shoot across my mouth and I'd accidently bite down) for probably 3-4 days, but with consistent chewing on soft foods, it doesn't hurt anymore. I have an appointment in with my dentist for my crown, so I still don't chew on it if I can help it but it is holding up. I'm glad I went here.

I could not be happier with Dr. Gideon and staff! I had my first two root canals done and he was patient and gentle. He has a calm demeanor and will answer any questions you have. I highly recommend him!
