Detailed Introduction

Firehouse Kids Dentistry is a specialized pediatric dental clinic located at 2980 Ray Rd, Spring Lake, NC 28390. This unique practice distinguishes itself by being housed in a renovated old Anderson Creek Firehouse, creating a fun and engaging, firehouse-themed environment for young patients. The clinic is led by Dr. Vincent Vissichelli, a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist with over 30 years of experience in dentistry, including 23 years of active-duty service in the Army where he was an AEGD Pediatric Instructor for military dentists at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg). Firehouse Kids Dentistry is dedicated to providing specialized dental care for infants, children, adolescents, and teens. Their philosophy centers on treating the child as an individual, recognizing that each patient has unique needs and may require different approaches to care. They emphasize preventive dentistry to help children develop healthy habits and maintain a healthy smile for life. Services offered at Firehouse Kids Dentistry include routine cleanings and exams, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, fillings, crowns (including stainless steel and all-white zirconia crowns), pulpotomies, and various sedation options such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and hospital general anesthesia for apprehensive or special needs children. They also address concerns like toothaches, cut or bitten tongues/lips/cheeks, and knocked-out permanent teeth, offering emergency services. The clinic is designed to be child-friendly, featuring TVs and music in every room, children's firehouse-themed murals, and a "prize wall" at the end of appointments to make visits enjoyable. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's oral health and are invited to stay with their child during appointments. Firehouse Kids Dentistry accepts Tricare (United Concordia) and strives for transparency in treatment plans and costs. Patients and their families frequently praise the friendly, knowledgeable, and patient staff, highlighting the positive and comfortable experience their children have at the clinic.

We’re fairly new to the practice and both of my kids have loved it! Honestly, it’s one of the coolest pediatric dental offices I have been to. The whole experience it’s amazing; from the waiting area to the check out process. Staff was very professional and friendly. So glad we found this practice, highly recommended!!

UPDATE: My review has now gone from 3 starts to 1 and would be less if I could due to this RIDICULOUS letter we just received today!! AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE AN OPINION AND VALUE YOUR CHILDS HEALTH!!! Please read this entirely to get an unbiased opinion! We started coming here when my sons insurance changed, and his original dentist did not take our insurance. First, its a really great place for children who are scared of the dentist to help put them at ease. Second, I really like the way the front staff and hygienists are with my kiddo. They are super sweet and listen and engage with your kiddo! However, THIRDLY, I don't really care for the dentist himself. He doesn't have the same demeanor at all like the rest of the staff. On all the visits, he is very short (like literally 2 mins in there and doesn't explain anything! Its not really an issue if your kiddos teeth are good and there is no need but when there is work to be done he still does the same.

Our last visit however was where he just crossed the line for me. He came across quite rude when we said we didn't want fluoride treatments or the sealants due to the fluoride in them. He suggested we go to a homeopathic dentist because they are a prevention office and don't want to have to keep an eye on my sons teeth. . . um isn't that what a dentist is for?? However, this is my sons THIRD or more trip WITH NO cavities! So tell me, WHY do I need to subject my child to flouride when he obviously is doing great without it! Research has shown the devastation flouride can do to the pituitary gland and overall brain function.

This made us quite angry. It seems just unprofessional to make it seem like we are doing something wrong for refusing fluoride treatments. It's our choice, and they are there to accommodate one way or the other with in professional manner. It's fine to recommend but accept when the patient/ or responsible party chooses otherwise.
