Sharing my details of my recent visit to Mike McKinney’s FLOYD County Smiles because I’m telling you that he is the most gentle dentist I’ve ever been to in my life. 12 years ago I was trying to get the top off of my JEEP to place a new one on it and I was using the channel locks and I had it moving and the next thing I knew I could feel blood 🩸 coming out of my nose and my mouth and today was my second visit to Dr.

Michael McKinney and he had written me a prescription for Halcyon and it said take two pills before I come to his office. BUT HE IS ONE HECK OF A GOOD DENTIST AND I NEVER DID EVER CHECK ON A DENTIST!

I have been scared to death of the dentist for many many years and this place is absolutely amazing. You feel like family, you feel like they love seeing you, they are kind and caring, and make you feel so comfortable. They know your name, get to know you and your family, and are just all around great people. It sounds dumb, but I love going there because they are that awesome.

I drive almost 45 minutes just to go to this office. They are that great.

I broke a tooth and was in excruciating pain. This dentist offered emergency services so I made an appointment (new patient). The nurses and administrative staff were great. However, Michael McKinney DMD came to my room, looked in my mouth with a light, and said that he couldn’t save the tooth, as I expected. I asked if they could please extract it to give me some relief. He said no because he saw an ‘abscess starting’. He spent less than 2 minutes in my room.

I received a Rx for antibiotics, Motrin, and an appointment card for 1 month away. I left the office in tears and in so much pain. I can’t continue with this painful, broken tooth for a month, but the dentist couldn’t have cared less. Overall: I was highly disappointed with the careless nature of Dr. McKinney and would not recommend this office based on my personal experience— especially for emergencies.

I have had the pleasure, for many years, of having one of the best dentist in Eastern KY. Dr. Michale McKinney is the most professional, thoughtful, and courteous dentist I’ve been to. He always takes good care of me, and all of his other patients too. His offices are always clean and equipped with the latest dental technology available. I am always seen close to my appointment time and have never had to wait very long. Sometimes I even get in early.

My time is valuable to me and Floyd County Smiles thinks it’s valuable too. Of course, none of this would be true without an excellent staff and office manager. I cannot say enough about the ladies there. I had to have some emergency work done on a weekend a few months back. I had no problem of getting in touch with the office and getting taken care of the same day.
