The center is led by two highly qualified and experienced surgeons, Dr. John Mascaro and Dr. Carl Choi. Dr. John R. Mascaro, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a recipient of the Alpha Omega Fraternity Award for highest scholastic standing, earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree in 1989. He completed a 5-star residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and further obtained his Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Mascaro also completed a one-year internship in General Surgery and a one-year Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He has been practicing in Willoughby since 1998 and is on staff at Lake Health Hospital Systems. He is board-certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of various professional organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association. His expertise primarily focuses on dental implants, wisdom teeth, dental extractions, bone grafting, pre-prosthetic surgery, oral pathology, and the administration of general anesthesia and intravenous sedation. Dr. Carl R. Choi, a Cleveland native, received his Bachelor of Arts in molecular biology from Princeton University and his Master's of Science in physiology from the Medical University of Ohio. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree magna cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2001. Dr. Choi completed a rigorous six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Louisville, which included a one-year general surgery internship, and also obtained his MD degree during his residency. He joined Great Lakes Jaw & Implant Surgery Center in 2007. Dr. Choi is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds memberships in similar professional organizations as Dr. Mascaro. His practice encompasses dental implants, dental extractions, wisdom teeth, impacted teeth, bone grafting, pre-prosthetic surgery, oral pathology, and various sedation methods.
