Detailed Introduction

Kool Smiles is a prominent dental clinic organization established in 2002 by Dr. Tu Tran and Dr. Thien Pham. It operates numerous Dental clinics across the United States, primarily located in low-income and underserved communities. The core mission of Kool Smiles is to create a world of happy, healthy smiles by providing high-quality dental care in a fun, compassionate environment, making dental visits an enjoyable experience for children, adults, and families. Kool Smiles offers a broad spectrum of dental services, encompassing General dentistry, Pediatric dentistry, Orthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Their general dentistry services include routine exams, cleanings, fillings, root canals, dental bridges, implants, and crowns. They emphasize preventive care, aiming to educate patients on good oral hygiene habits to prevent dental issues before they escalate. For children, they provide specialized pediatric dental care tailored to their unique needs, with offices designed to be welcoming and engaging, often featuring bright waiting rooms and play areas. They also offer guidance for parents on children's Oral health. Many Kool Smiles offices also provide orthodontic services such as traditional braces, clear aligners (like Invisalign), and clear braces for both children and adults. A significant aspect of Kool Smiles' model is its commitment to accessibility. They accept a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicaid, TRICARE, Child Health Insurance Programs (CHIPs), and most commercial insurances, as well as private pay. This focus on accepting government-funded insurance programs has made them a crucial provider of dental care for families who might otherwise struggle to access affordable treatment. Kool Smiles also engages in various community outreach initiatives and dental health education programs. Their "Operation Troop Treats" encourages healthy habits by exchanging Halloween candy for care package donations to U.S. troops, and "Sharing Smiles Day" provides free dental care to children without insurance. They also offer free dental health lesson plans for schools to promote early dental education. While committed to its mission, Kool Smiles has faced scrutiny and legal challenges regarding alleged medically unnecessary procedures, particularly involving children covered by Medicaid. The company has stated its commitment to quality and has engaged in efforts to address these concerns. Overall, Kool Smiles aims to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and accessible dental care, particularly focusing on pediatric dentistry and serving communities with high demand for affordable dental services.

Best Dentist and staff ever! They made my son feel so comfortable. They were very nice, gentle, gave him laughing gas while in the chair. Very convenient hours. The office was very clean as well.

My other children enjoyed the play place while my oldest had his work done. My son had braces and needed extensive work done and not only did they go above and beyond but kept my son very comfortable. Thank you Dr and kool smiles.

Have brought my son here for a few check-ups now and have no complaints. He loves the waiting room because there is a play area and "computer" games with touch screens to play along the wall and a table for drawing and coloring. The receptionists greet us as soon as we walk in and we haven't had to wait longer than 10 minutes even on one occasion where the office was quite busy.

The hygienists we've encountered have all been quick, efficient and pleasant. My son has never cried or had a reason to cry because from hygienist to dentist, they are comforting, fun and gentle. Just had a check-up on the 10th and all was well, looking forward to the next check-up in August, as is my son!

With this place it seems to all depend on the day you go. I've been taking my kids here for years and always saw the same dentist, and my kids love him. I went this past Friday and it was a very different experience. The female dentist didn't even introduce herself, and my kids were very nervous.

Despite there being no other patients in the waiting room, it still took almost two hours just to get a routine cleaning done. The hygienist was acting like she didn't even want to be there, and after standing around my kids for almost thirty minutes, finally got someone else to clean my kid's teeth. After the hygienist was done, I felt like I was in a nail salon, the dentist and hygienist were standing right in front of us speaking another language. Normally, we love coming to this place and leave happy, but if this had been my first visit, I would never go back.

I hope it's never like this again, or we will have to find a new dentist. My two boys were both upset that they didn't see their usual dentist, and their teeth don't even look as clean as they normally do. Very disappointed.

l will not be returning!!!!! The first visit I had for both my children, they were spoken about as chair numbers and not people. From the start to end of my appointment was two hours. That is a long time for any adult let alone two young children. The dentist who spoke with me about my daughter's' teeth was very condescending and he never told me about the two cavities she had. I had to find out when I was signing the papers to leave.

The second visit to have my daughter's cavities filled, the dentist, a different one from the first appointment, left her filling appointment to attend to two kids and then a lady came in to have him sign papers. My feeling is he should be focused on one task at a hand. If I got to the dentist I want to feel like a person and not a chair number. I will not be returning, ever.
