I hate the dentist, but this place made me love it! The atmosphere was great and the doctors where a pleasure to deal with and most of all gentle. The doctors took care of my needs and made my children look forward to going to dentist.

Completely unprofessional atmosphere. . . the dental techs (all young girls) continuously flirted with the receptionist; it was obvious they were not interested in their job performance. This became abundantly clear when I was administered fluoride that I told them I didn't need that was not covered by my insurance. The dental tech smeared the fluoride on her gloved finger and rubbed it on my teeth with her fingers while giggling and talking to the other dental techs. Yeah, who needs trays! The dentalwork area is an open floor plan so I could hear the screams and wails of children and adults barely separated from me by a wall of cabinets. I felt like I was in a dental cattle herd; that the techs were trying to get me in and out as quickly as possible. I needed to have follow-up work done, and I specified that I wanted nitrous oxide when they filled the small cavity on my front tooth. Sure, no problem…and I prepaid for the nitrous. I went back for the cavity fill because the convenience of the office outweighed the unprofessional atmosphere I had experienced. When I arrived for my cavity work, I was unknowingly seated in a dental chair not hooked up to nitrous. The dentist, Dr.

Davis, was about to begin when I asked him about the nitrous. He laughed and said, “Oh, you don’t need that!” No, I didn’t need it, but I wanted it very badly…and I prepaid for it! Apparently nobody wanted to take the time to accommodate my request, because they wanted me in and out as quickly as possible. I sucked it up and agreed to the fill sans nitrous. After all, “It is only a tiny cavity. I’ll be finished before you know it!” and I was reassured that I would be refunded. After he finished, I looked at his handy work and almost passed out. Although he had filled the cavity on my front tooth, he never, never explained to me that he was taking half of my gum with it - gum that would never grow back. I looked disfigured and horrible, and I was nonchalantly told that because of the amount of gum cut away, my front tooth may fall out in a few years, and that I was lucky that I hadn’t needed a root canal. What??? This was all news to me! I was told it was a tiny cavity!! I flipped out, screaming and crying – it was the most traumatic dental experience of my life. Dr. Davis explained that the cavity was much deeper than he thought it was going to be…and then he blamed the snafu on Dr. Biery. According to Dr.

Davis, Dr. Biery had read the x-ray, not Dr. Davis. Like I mentioned, very professional! Then the icing on the cake…on my way out, the checkout counter hassled me about my refund for the nitrous pre-pay. As soon as I got to work the next day, I began relaying the horrible experience to my co-workers / some are lawyers. At their suggestion, I contacted a few lawyers in the area to pursue a civil suit. Although there was not a strong enough case for me to pursue a civil suit, I did find out that the office of Doctors Biery and Paulette was currently in litigation for a pending suit. Allegedly (and the lawyer assured me that this was public knowledge) there was a child sedated incorrectly by the dental office who was now in a COMA!! Oh my gosh…no wonder they didn’t want to give me nitrous! Needless to say, I never went back, and I started going to the dentist closer to where I work in Charlottesville. I noticed a few years ago that Doctors Biery and Paulette were advertising as Mountain View Dental Team vs Doctors Biery and Paulette. I assume this is due to the outcome of the aforementioned civil suit. I decided to post this review because the new advertisements on TV specifically focused on large families and children, and I thought you may want to read about my experience before committing your smile to Mountain View Dental Team. Because of the Mountain View Dental Team, my smile looks like it was cared for by the guy from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
