Motto
Clear aligners is a proprietary clear aligner system developed and offered exclusively by
Aspen Dental, one of the largest networks of dental offices in the United States. Launched in 2020, Motto aims to provide an accessible, effective, and doctor-supervised alternative to traditional
braces and direct-to-consumer aligner options.
The treatment distinguishes itself by combining the convenience of clear aligners with professional in-office dental supervision throughout the entire process. Unlike some at-home aligner services, Motto emphasizes in-person consultations, comprehensive initial examinations, and regular check-ups (typically every 6-10 weeks) at Aspen Dental locations. This hybrid approach ensures that patients receive personalized care plans, real-time adjustments, and professional guidance from qualified dental experts, maximizing the effectiveness and safety of the treatment.
Motto Clear Aligners are designed to address mild to moderate teeth-straightening issues, including crowding, spacing problems, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. The aligners themselves are crafted from transparent, high-quality plastic with a three-layer design that is reported to deliver more efficient tooth movement with less initial discomfort compared to earlier-generation materials. They are also marketed as being stain-resistant and easy to maintain.
A significant aspect of Motto Clear Aligners is their affordability, often positioned as a more cost-effective solution than premium brands like Invisalign, with treatments for mild to moderate cases starting at a flat rate of $2,999, which typically includes all aligners, refinements, virtual monitoring via the MottoMonitoring™ app, a professional-grade whitening kit, and a custom-crafted retainer. Flexible payment options, dental financing, insurance acceptance, and HSA/FSA eligibility are also offered to make treatment more accessible.
The treatment process with Motto generally involves an initial consultation at an Aspen Dental office, a 3D scan of the teeth to create a customized treatment plan, and then the fabrication of a series of aligners. Patients typically wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, 22 hours a day, before progressing to the next set. Many patients see results in as little as six months, though the exact duration depends on the complexity of the case. The brand also offers MottoRetain, a retention solution to maintain results post-treatment.
