What should have been a routine cleaning with Dr. Inna Chern turned into a traumatic, painful, and permanently damaging experience — one I’m still dealing with 8 months later. During my initial visit, Dr. Chern abruptly suggested that I replace two existing amalgam fillings, saying: “You should get those silver fillings removed and replaced with resin…there’s toxins in the amalgam. ” I was caught off guard — the fillings had been perfectly stable for over 30 years and no other dentist had ever mentioned them. But under her persistent pressure and alarmist tone, I reluctantly agreed. That decision was devastating.

While drilling out one of the amalgam fillings, Dr. Chern cracked the tooth — something she failed to acknowledge or take responsibility for. Within a week, I was in excruciating pain with intense nerve sensitivity, which sent me to an endodontist. The x-rays and dental CT scan showed the full extent of the damage: not only had an infection taken hold, but Dr. Chern had cracked the tooth all the way to the nerve, making it “non-viable. ” That’s a clinical way of saying: it was destroyed. Because of Dr.

Chern’s ineptitude, I was forced to undergo oral surgery under general anesthesia to extract the tooth, followed by a long healing process and an eventual implant — a costly, invasive, and emotionally draining outcome that never should have happened. This wasn’t proactive care. This was coercion, followed by careless, irreversible harm. I trusted Dr. Chern with my health, and that trust was profoundly violated. I would strongly advise others to seek dental care elsewhere.
