I love the atmosphere of this dentist. They make you feel like you are right at home. I enjoy a family run business, and the calming presence of the staff! 10/10 would recommend. When I was a resident at MUSC I referred 4 of co-resident here, and they all loved it as well.

I highly recommend Old Mt Pleasant Dentistry. Everyone is kind and caring. The receptionists are friendly and make you feel welcomed. I love that it's a small, personable office. Dr.

Melchers is an excellent dentist. I had a front chipped tooth and he went above and beyond to make sure the tooth looked perfect, even adding material to make it even with the other front tooth so that it looks like I had braces to fix the alignment. Going to this office is always a great experience.

I had the most pleasant dental cleaning today with Cassie! Painless, meticulous, and almost relaxing! I’ve seen Dr. Melchers, Sr. and Jr. and both are caring and responsive dentists. A few years ago I had a filling that didn’t feel smooth enough, and they fit me in right away and fixed it. Also, I never have the feeling that they are overcharging or recommending unnecessary services.

Lawd have mercy, I wouldn’t send a stray dog to this dentist. After over 50 years on this earth, I can honestly say this was the worst dental experience I’ve ever had. I walked in with a couple problems, and I left with a bigger ones. Had to get not one, not two, but three second opinions, and every single dentist was downright shocked at what they saw. One of ’em even said, “I can’t believe somebody actually did this. ” What Dr. Melchers Jr.

called “fixing” has now cost me more than double to undo, and I’ve had to go through even more pain, time, and money just to make things right again. It’s a crying shame. Truth be told, it felt like he didn’t give a hoot — like he was just goin’ through the motions and couldn’t care less about the folks sittin’ in that chair. The gals up front were nice enough, bless ‘em, but that office? Woooo buddy. Smelled like an old swamp cooler in August — moldy, mildewy, and just plain wrong for a medical place. I looked up and saw mold spots on the ceiling — and if that’s what’s out in plain sight, I shudder to think what’s behind closed doors. I wouldn’t be surprised if DHEC came knockin’ one day soon — and I just might help 'em along by filing a report myself.

If you’re anywhere near Mt. Pleasant, do yourself a favor: turn right back around if you see this office. There’s plenty of good folks in town who’ll treat you right and know what they’re doin’. Y’all stay far, far away now — you’ve been warned.
