The clinic is led by a team of board-certified periodontists, including Dr. Benjamin T. Overstreet, Dr. John H. White, Dr. Kara Dunegan Gilliam, and Dr. Denver Lyons. They are dedicated to providing advanced periodontal care and state-of-the-art dental implant solutions. Key offerings include comprehensive dental implant surgery for single or multiple missing teeth, various types of soft tissue grafting (periodontal plastic surgery) to protect teeth from gum recession and enhance smile aesthetics, and bone grafting procedures to rebuild jawbone density for successful implant placement. They also perform crown lengthening to address "gummy smiles" by reshaping gum and bone tissue, and extractions for diseased, crowded, or damaged teeth. The clinic emphasizes a patient-centric approach, focusing on overall health, as new research highlights the link between periodontal disease and systemic conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections. The doctors are actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and Academy of Osseointegration, demonstrating their commitment to staying at the forefront of their field. Several of their doctors have been recognized as "Top Periodontists" in Richmond Magazine, as voted by their peers. They work closely with general dentists to create a healthy foundation for their patients' smiles, ensuring a collaborative and comprehensive care experience.

My mom was referred to Dr White for a biopsy of her lip. He did a great job, very caring and professional. The front office staff went above and beyond to get their info to the Mohs Surgeon she needed to see. Who now-a-days calls to resolve a document issue with surgeon office and actually calls you back with an update ? This office does. Highly recommend !! Their patients come first.

Extraction and bone graft completed by Dr. White. The office staff was fabulous at both locations. His assistant, specifically at the Grove Ave location was unbelievable kind, caring and thorough. As with most surgeons, Dr. White could improve his bedside manner.... or not 💁‍♀️ since I certainly wasn't there to socialize! I feel very confident in his expertise.

I had my wisdom teeth as well as a tooth extracted by Dr Richardson a couple years ago. I woke up during the surgery feeling all of the pain of my teeth being extracted because the anesthesia was not properly monitored. I also had purple marks all around the roof of my mouth and gums because the suction was left on my gums for too long resulting in pain and bruising for weeks after the surgery.

I remember the surgery and pain as I was awake for the majority of it with a cloth over my eyes preventing the doctors from checking that I was awake. This was a very traumatic experience and I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

My initial experience at the office was unsettling. Being greeted with "last name and Date of Birth" instead of a simple "hello" felt impersonal and unfortunately foreshadowed the rest of my visit. While I found Dr. Lyons to be excellent, providing clear explanations and treatment options, the checkout process was deeply concerning. I went to check out and was immediately hit with the payment options for the surgery – either the full amount with a 5% discount or 30% down – with the assurance that my insurance would be billed afterward, and I would be refunded any overpayment.

I also had to specifically inquire about whether my insurance would even be billed and why they hadn't taken steps to contact my insurance to determine my actual financial responsibilities. As a healthcare administrator familiar with medical billing best practices, I was immediately concerned by the lack of prior insurance authorization. Charging patients based on their fee schedule before determining insurance obligations is not standard procedure and felt potentially misleading. When I inquired about this, I was told they would "see what happens" with my insurance and either issue a refund or a bill. This approach deviates significantly from established billing practices and gave the impression of prioritizing immediate payment over transparent insurance processing.

If this practice operates on a de facto self-pay model, that should be clearly communicated upfront. Ultimately, despite my positive interaction with Dr. Lyons, the unprofessional and frankly uncomfortable conduct of the front desk and administrative staff, coupled with their questionable billing practices, has led me to the decision not to return. Their approach seemed geared towards securing immediate payment rather than prioritizing patient financial clarity and well-being.
