Dr. Baker was amazing, she helped me when noone would. I live in martinsburg and not one dentist that was open would see me after I had been up all night no sleep in major pain,begging everyone, the tooth had to go. . she took every step she could to get it out.
She was very understanding and cared enough to help me, You dont find that anymore. And her staff (kim) helped so much, let me tell you, she went out of her way to help in so many ways. Thank you ladies so much.

My son went in as a new patient in March 2023 for a regular cleaning and routine x-rays. No issues during the appointment and no further treatment needed. I received an Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company that the dentist took panoramic x-rays which were not covered (Bitewing x-rays would have been covered). He had panoramic x-rays back in 2018 and wasn't eligible for more panoramic x-rays until April 2023. I called Rutherford Dental to verify which type of x-rays were done (maybe there was a mistake with billing). They confirmed they did pano x-rays. So, I asked if they call the insurance company to verify benefits before new patient appointments and the women (who was very nice) said yes.
I then asked very nicely, why would you proceed with pano x-rays if you your new patient wasn't covered for them? My son would have been eligible 30 days later for pano x-rays. We could have simply rescheduled the appointment to the following month. She stated that "they just take what the doctor needs and the doctor requires panoramic x-rays on all new patients". If this is the case, why would they not reschedule the appointment so the x-rays would be covered by the insurance company. At the very least, they should tell the patient when they come for the appointment that something is not covered, so they have the option to approve the out of pocket expense or advise them when they are making the appointment what they will require at the 1st appointment. Anyway, she put me on hold for a few minutes and came back to say that the doctor would wash the charge for his x-ray from the account, but that we could find another dentist. I said "Because we called to verify a charge your releasing him as a patient"?.
She said "Yes, Ma'am. Long story short, beware of this practice taking advantage of the insurance company, billing them for what they know won't be covered and sticking the patient with the charge. Then, if you call to inquire about a charge they drop you as a patient. I guess the bright side is, we thankfully learned this after the 1st appointment and without incurring extensive costs. Not a dental practice our family wants to be associated with.

Dr. Baker is the only dentist in the Winchester area I will see. I used to dread going to the see the dentist, but Dr. Baker and her team make it a pleasurable experience. You can read it in the mission statement on the website. You truly feel they care about you and want to build a lifelong relationship. It seems counterintuitive to use “uniquely fun” in the mission statement, but it’s accurate.
In my recent checkup Road Trip Radio was playing, and I was comfortably seated in a winter themed room. It doesn’t feel too clinical or even medieval like other practices. While Dr. Baker does excellent restorative and cosmetic work, there is never pressure or upselling of additional services. I trust Dr. Baker and her team and always look forward to seeing them.

A very caring dentist. Takes her time and does an excellent job. Been going there for years and I love the service I get . Wouldn't go anywhere else. Very happy with Dr. Baker .
