Detailed Introduction

Salisbury Pediatric Dentistry is a highly-rated dental clinic located at 140 Mahaley Ave Suite B, Salisbury, NC 28144. It operates as part of NC Pediatric Dentistry, a premier network of affiliated pediatric dental practices across North Carolina, dedicated to delivering comprehensive oral care services specifically for children. The clinic's philosophy centers on creating a positive and stress-free dental environment for young patients, aiming to prevent dental phobias often rooted in childhood. They achieve this through a child-friendly office design, engaging experiences, and a team of pediatric specialists, general dentists, and highly trained staff who are adept at communicating with children in a gentle and non-threatening manner. Salisbury Pediatric Dentistry offers a full suite of services, including routine dental exams, professional cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants for preventative care. They also address issues like cavities with fillings, provide space maintainers for premature tooth loss, and manage dental trauma. The clinic is equipped to handle dental emergencies and is particularly skilled in working with children who have behavioral challenges or special needs, offering individualized care plans and, when necessary, sedation options to ensure comfort during procedures. A distinctive feature of Salisbury Pediatric Dentistry is its "Open-Door Policy," which encourages parents to be present with their child throughout the entire dental appointment. This approach aims to provide comfort and ease for both the child and the parent, fostering a collaborative atmosphere for oral health. The clinic also prioritizes patient safety, implementing advanced measures such as air purifiers, sneeze guards, and low aerosol protocols. Operating hours are typically Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm, and Friday from 8 am to 2 pm. They accept most dental insurances and offer affordable options, along with comprehensive insurance pre-authorization services. Patients consistently praise the staff's kindness, patience, and ability to make dental visits enjoyable for children, even those with anxiety or special needs.

Just as we respect your time, you should also respect our time, waiting 40 minutes in the lobby is not fair. My 3 year old daughter didn’t get an oral x-ray because she didn't want to sit down, don't you have any other options for little children? I was not happy as a parent today.

If I could give zero stars I would. My children have been going here since just after birth. I booked an appointment over a month ago for my three children, took work off, picked them up from school early and wasted an hour and a half of driving and gas for them to tell me they canceled their appointments and gave them to someone else. Their claim for doing this was that I needed to confirm our appointment the day before.

I was not informed of this at booking nor did the office ever contact me via text or call. Not once was this relayed. We won't be back.

I usually have a smooth experience with both of my kids being seen at the same time. They are both called back and seen at the same time and usually takes 45 minutes-mostly less. This last time they went was a disaster. My sister had to take them as I have a broke foot and can't drive/walk.

Instead of being seen together, my oldest was seen and then my youngest waited an hour to be seen because the dental assistant decided to put a family of three between them for whatever reason he thought that would be okay since their parents did different times for all of them and my kid just so happened to have her time fall in-between them based on a chart system the office does for different Drs there. I called up there and no answer, I called back as a new patient and a third party company answered and transferred me over to the office. Upon answering they explained the dental assistants mistake, which is understandable but not any fault of my child's or mine when scheduling. Under different circumstances I wouldn't have wrote a bad review but the assistant didn't apologize/acted like he didn't do anything wrong and treated my child differently (didn't ask medical history/questions or look at chart and called my sister their mom).

And instead of acknowledging he made a mistake and tell the Dr to see my child first, assistant sent him to multiple other patients that arrived well after my child's appt time. Usually everything would go smoothly, and I know their office trains a lot of people but someone should have stepped in and trained him on how this situation gets handled appropriately. But like stated, visits usually go smoothly.

New to the area & thought a large established practice would be a good place to establish care. However, it's just not the experience I was looking for. They were running late for our 11am appointment. The patient space is one large room with 6 chairs, three on either side. The one my daughter sat in had deep cracked vinyl throughout. The bottoms of the chairs on either side were worn & dirty. The hygienist was nice, but she went straight to polishing the teeth, without an exam. No chatting to my nervous 8 year old other than she was going to "tickle her teeth. " As my daughter was being seen, I could sit & listen to everyone else's conversations about their child's teeth-awkward. Did you hear about the patient who cussed out their other practice and was banned? I did. .

. Afterwards (maybe two whole minutes), the dentist came over (I assume?) Without introduction, looked in her mouth & relayed whatever dentist speak the hygienist (dental assistant? I have no clue) needed for recording. Then he looked at ne & said she had one cavity that needed filling & began removing his gloves. Wait. . which tooth? How deep? I never saw the x rays, but I WAS asked by the hygenist/assistant if I wanted to buy a "tooth pillow. " Huh? What? Why? What on earth is a "tooth pillow"? I was told she uses it at night for crowding & she may or may not still need orthodontic care later. No further explanation about this "tooth pillow" I should buy (but I WAS given a pamphlet. The entire experience was about 8 minutes long & that included waiting for the dentist. It felt very rushed and I very much got the vibe that it was a "crank them in & out, do the bare minimum but upsell everything" vibe. At checkout, they wanted to fill her tooth the very next day ( the one I never even saw on xray).

How can they get her in so fast? Insane. Anyway, I was asked if my daughter needed nitrous oxide for her filling. I have no idea if the plan was to numb it plus nitrous? No one talked to me about anything. I told the person at checkout I have no idea and I shouldn't be making that decision because I don't know how deep this cavity is. Needless to say, we won't be getting any fillings there. It was an utterly cold experience. I've never been to a dentist-kids or otherwise who don't discuss treatment plans with their patients or make sure they understand what is being done. I’m still trying to wrap my head around them wanting to fill a tooth without even showing me the X-ray, and the “tooth pillow” offer with no discussion from the dentist about why she needs one. The whole thing would be laughable if it wasn't so shocking and disappointing. If this practice really DOES want their patients to have a great experience as they say in their review responses, they need to slow down, remember the patients are important and change their methods from herding cattle to individualized care.
