Detailed Introduction

Shenandoah Smiles Pediatric Dentistry is a specialized dental clinic located at 519 W Jubal Early Dr, Winchester, VA 22601, dedicated to providing comprehensive oral healthcare for infants, children, and adolescents. The practice is led by Dr. Melissa Gibson, a board-certified pediatric dentist and Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, who brings over 20 years of experience to her practice. She is also a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and a member of various prestigious dental associations. Dr. MacFarland also contributes to the team as a board-certified pediatric dentist. The clinic distinguishes itself by creating a welcoming and fun environment designed specifically to put young patients at ease. This includes engaging amenities like a bubble machine in the reception area and ceiling-mounted televisions in treatment rooms for entertainment. The team at Shenandoah Smiles prioritizes comfort, care, and concern, understanding that dental visits can be challenging for children. They employ a gentle approach, explaining procedures clearly to both children and their caregivers, fostering trust and reducing anxiety. Services offered encompass a wide range of pediatric dental treatments, from routine preventative care like cleanings, exams, and fluoride applications to more complex procedures such as fillings, crowns (including stainless steel and zirconia options), extractions, and root canals. A key focus is on preventive care, utilizing technologies like dental sealants to protect against decay and educating parents on optimal at-home oral hygiene practices. Shenandoah Smiles is also equipped and trained to provide specialized care for children with physical, mental, or developmental needs, offering in-office sedation and behavioral guidance when necessary, always with parental approval. They are committed to building lasting relationships with families to ensure consistent and successful dental health journeys for their patients.

Great people who generally care. Even if it's not the news you want to hear, they do very well explaining everything and the events that need to be followed. Even with them being outside my insurance's network, they are still more realistic on price. Looking forward to having everything taken care of for my son, and possibly proceeding to take my son there for all dental needs in the future.

Great place, the staff is awesome and our kids really enjoyed the practice and how patient the hygienists were with them. It really is a 5 star establishment because we had nothing but great experiences but am giving it 4 stars solely because they dropped our insurance, United Concordia, a few years ago, so we went somewhere else in the area one time and did not like it whatsoever so we switched to my spouses more expensive dental insurance plan, MetLife, because they accepted it and we wanted our kids back there with them but then two years later, the practice dropped our insurance again. I then got new employment and signed up for a 3rd dental insurance plan, Delta Dental, but they don’t accept that insurance either so unfortunately we have had to find yet another practice.

It is very unfortunate because we really did love the practice but it seems they are pretty limited on what insurance they accept.

Terrible experience. I brought my daughter to get her first cleaning and the girl that saw her was so rude to my 7 year old . She also rushed to do her job so quickly that it felt like I was being pranked or something . I had my phone in my hand and the girl spent 1 minute cleaning my kids mouth ! And then flossing and my kid winced in pain because the lady was speeding through flossing and cut her gums and the girl let out an irritated inpatient sigh and said “ what’s wrong “ very rudely ! My kid said “ owe that’s hurting me “ and the girl said “ I wonder why u don’t brush your teeth “ in the rudest tone , again ! like WHAT!? (My kid does brush her teeth) Anyway All the girl did was brush over all her teeth real fast in one swipe ! no scraping , no checking with a mirror , no picking , no actual brushing or anything! she didn’t even put the polish on afterwards ! My kid said “ are u going to clean them now “ and she said “ I already cleaned them I do a good job ok ! .

. like WOW! Pretty bad when my kids first time getting it done didn’t even register it had started because all she did was put toothpaste on a brush and do one sweep ! The whole time after that was spent with her on the computer barking orders at the other women to get stuff for her and see her other patients and DO HER JOB bc she was too lazy ! She said and I quote “ I’m just lazy I don’t feel like doing anything “ so another lady got her patient that had been waiting there’s x rays , another lady got her a cup of water for my kid , another lady brought her a kids school excuse and another lady brought her something else bc she was just asking who ever walked by to do stuff for her saying she didn’t feel like it . Like r u serious ? Be for real ? One lady actually stood up for herself and said no and she said “ omg am I actually being told NO? And the coworker said “ YES AND I DONT CARE “ it was obvious the dental hygienist had to be a friend of the practice or something bc she was definitely the office bully and sucked at her job . She did not care to be there AT ALL ! Was so rude saying the cruelest things , and herding people in and out of there like cattle ! I am in disbelief and I will never go there again or recommend it.

I am DISGUSTED! I called my dentist office before I left the parking lot and had my daughter put as a patient for their practice because I can not have my daughter going to that establishment again and being treated that way . I didn’t get the girls name because she didn’t introduce herself but she had brown hair with alot of blonde highlights , looked about 26, 5’6 with light colored eyes and a god awful amount of lip filler. Hope this helps someone avoid her
