Detailed Introduction

Smyrna Dental & Headache Center is a specialized medical practice located at 3246 Atlanta Rd SE Suite B, Smyrna, GA 30080, with a strong focus on addressing chronic headaches, migraines, TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) disorders, and associated jaw and neck pain. The center is led by Dr. David Lamothe, an experienced dental professional with over 35 years in general dentistry, who has further specialized in understanding the intricate connections between oral health and chronic pain. The core philosophy of Smyrna Dental & Headache Center revolves around identifying and treating the root causes of pain, rather than just alleviating symptoms. They recognize that many persistent headaches and facial pains can stem from dental imbalances, misaligned bites (malocclusion), and issues with the nerves, muscles, and ligaments surrounding the head, neck, and jaw. To achieve accurate diagnoses, Smyrna Dental & Headache Center employs advanced technologies such as the TruDenta system. This diagnostic process includes bite force analysis (using T-Scan technology to precisely assess dental imbalances during chewing), range of motion analysis, muscle exams, and comprehensive headache history questionnaires. This in-depth evaluation helps uncover often-overlooked musculoskeletal problems that contribute to chronic pain. Once the underlying causes are identified, the center provides a range of treatment options designed for long-term relief. These treatments can include: Oral Appliances: Customized devices to help reposition the jaw and alleviate stress on the TMJ. Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation: Utilizing techniques like therapeutic ultrasound, trigger point therapy, electrocurrent stimulation, and low-level laser therapy to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, break up scar tissue, and restore muscle and nerve function. Lifestyle Recommendations: Guidance on exercises and habits to manage and prevent pain. Dr. Lamothe and his team are committed to providing compassionate and skilled care in a comfortable setting. They strive to educate patients about their conditions and involve them in creating personalized treatment plans. While their primary focus is on pain management related to jaw and dental issues, they also offer general dental services, understanding that overall oral health is crucial for comprehensive well-being. The center aims to improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from debilitating head and facial pain.

I've been a patient of Dr. Lamothe's since 2009 or 2010. He has provided consistent care, with the health of my teeth being foremost. He takes the time to address any questions or concerns I have at each visit.

The staff is courteous and professional. The office looks clean and sanitary whenever I visit. They currently offer curbside check-in and perform temperature checks upon arrival to make sure they're keeping the staff and patients safe. I recommend my dentist to anyone who asks all the time!

I have been visiting Smyrna Dental & Headache Center now for over 10 years and the experience each and everytime has been an enjoyable one to say the least. Dr. Lamont and his staff has been very professional and caring as well as they just make you feel like family instead of a client or patient.

That is why I drive nearly an hour away for my dentist appointment and pass plenty of others on my way to the Best dentist in town.

This was the best dental experience I’ve had. Chris at the front desk helped me out and even submitted a claim on my behalf to my insurance. They definitely go above and beyond while making you feel apart of the family. Thank you as well to doc and the rest of the staff!
