Detailed Introduction

Sparkling Smiles of Asheboro is a well-established dental practice located at 422 N Church St, Asheboro, NC 27203. The clinic offers a wide array of dental services catering to both adults and children, emphasizing family dentistry. Their commitment extends beyond immediate dental care to educating patients on proper oral hygiene and nutrition to prevent future issues. For pediatric patients, Sparkling Smiles provides specialized care for infants, children, and adolescents, and individuals with special needs. They advocate for children to have a "dental home" by age 1 to monitor developmental issues and instill good oral hygiene habits early on. The clinic utilizes various tools for pediatric patients, including behavior management techniques, oral sedation, nitrous oxide sedation, and even general anesthesia when necessary, to ensure a comfortable and positive experience. In addition to general and pediatric dentistry, Sparkling Smiles offers cosmetic dentistry services aimed at enhancing smiles and boosting patient confidence. Their services include extractions, dentures, crowns, and a commitment to utilizing advanced technology, as evidenced by their interest in 3D printing for crowns and dentures and invisible braces. The clinic accepts various payment methods, including cash, CareCredit, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, and participates in most insurance plans, including North Carolina Health Choice and Medicaid (though they may not be currently accepting new Medicaid patients). They prioritize patient comfort with amenities like warm blankets and headphones and have a team of dedicated professionals, including Dr. Lekecia McGee, DDS, and Dr. Tiarra Rorie, DDS, along with a supportive staff including an office manager, dental assistants, and receptionists. Patients frequently praise their friendly staff, professional service, and ability to make dental visits comfortable and stress-free.

Dr. McGee and her staff were all excellent! She fit my tight schedule and worked me in. I needed to get ortho extractions done. One tooth was crooked and really gave us a hard time. Dr. McGee was able to get it out despite it having a very crooked root and being wedged tightly between two other teeth.

Her dental assistant was thinking ahead and gave me some ibuprofen in between extractions so my ride home would be bearable. I greatly appreciated that because that one crooked tooth site is really going to be sore. All of the staff I encountered were very kind and pleasant. I definitely recommend this practice for children as well, because every kid in there seemed happy and fearless.

My wife recommended I go here after I hadn't been to a dentist since 2019 they did a cleaning and was very rough my gums bled for 2 days after the cleaning, they recommended I get fillings due to having 4 cavities I agreed and came back thinking it would be different the nurse aid was very nice and helpful answering concerns, the doctor came in and jabbed her needle in my gums several times and during the injection she struck a literal nerve in my gum sending pain to jaw all the way up to my ear, she did the fillings (which are MERCURY fillings not been used in common dentistry since 2009) after my visit I was in severe pain with my jaw, so much I could barely open my mouth and it hurt worse when closing my mouth resulting in not being able to eat soft food or properly swallow, I spent 36 hours without eating or drinking anything finally resulting in me needing an ER visit where the ER doctor said the pain will resolve with help in 2 to 3 days but he was worried the damage could've been PERMANENT!! he also explained that he disagrees with me going back do to the risk of facial paralysis due to careless practice of medicine.

I wanted to make a review which talks about the environment of the building. Two big factors for me in particular. The lighting in the lobby and the hallways was quite poor, I wasn't fully in the dark but I wasn't fully lit either. It felt like I was waiting in the dark with only light from the windows. The same is true when I was being ushered around the halls to the different rooms in the building. It is lighted overhead but it is not lit well. There are parts where there are a lot of shadows and sort of feels uncomfortable and gloomy because of this. I'm already anxious and stressed coming to the dentist, the environment being dark and gloomy does nothing to help my mood.

Another big one is the lack of doors between rooms. There are doorways to be sure and one door to separate the lobby from the practice rooms, but none of the rooms for the patients have doors. I really dislike this as it feels like I have no privacy while my teeth or personal details are being discussed and anyone can walk into the practice room while I'm sitting there with my mouth open. Also; while this didn't happen during my cleaning, I can easily imagine a child in the next room having a scary experience and crying and screaming or other distressed child noises. . There was a loud crying child in the lobby as I was waiting even. So the lack of doors means we all get to enjoy those sounds echoing through the building rather than being muffled by a closed door. I want to hear what my dentist says, not an upset child down the hall.

I'm already anxious and on edge during visits, the last thing I need is a child scream scaring me and causing me to flinch while the hygienist has her water pick at my gums. My experiences with the Hygienists and Dr Rory were fine. (Dr McGee was out that day) . They answered all of my questions just fine and did a good job with me. I didn't have any issues such as a cavity though.
