Detailed Introduction

St. Louis Pediatric Dentistry is a prominent Dental Clinic group in the St. Louis, Missouri area, specifically catering to the oral health needs of infants, children, and adolescents. With multiple convenient locations, including Chesterfield, O'Fallon, Des Peres, and Ladue, they aim to make dentistry a positive and enjoyable experience for young patients. The clinic prides itself on its bright, modern, and kid-friendly offices, equipped with amenities like TVs in treatment rooms, tablets, and Treasure Towers to engage children and alleviate anxiety. Their team of pediatric dentists and professional staff are committed to providing exceptional care, focusing on prevention and early intervention to foster a lifetime of healthy smiles. Services offered include comprehensive pediatric dental services, such as professional cleanings, digital X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, and white composite fillings. They also provide more advanced procedures like crown and pulp therapy, extractions, and space maintenance. Understanding that some children may experience anxiety or have special needs, St. Louis Pediatric Dentistry offers patient comfort and sedation options, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for mild anxiety and deep sedation in both office and hospital settings when necessary. All their pediatric dentists are on staff at Mercy Children's Hospital, allowing for hospital-based dental treatment for children with complex medical conditions or extreme anxiety. St. Louis Pediatric Dentistry emphasizes an "Open Door Policy," encouraging parents to accompany their child during visits as silent supporters to ensure a comfortable and positive experience. They also prioritize patient education, empowering both children and parents with knowledge about proper oral hygiene and preventive care. Reviews frequently highlight the friendly, compassionate, and professional nature of the staff, and the kid-friendly atmosphere that helps children look forward to their dental appointments.

A few years ago I would have given 5 stars. But since my sons experience starting in August of 2024 I would give 0 if it was an option. Come to find out after his August appointment he had bronchitis so that explain a lot to me about why the nitrous didn’t seem to be helping him at all. He definitely was not breathing in to get the nitrous for his treatment and him saying he could feel pain and was not numb enough to be told We HAVE to do sedation. I went ahead and paid for both but got told 1 week before hand that the sedation would be another 2,000. After talking with my son he said he would do the treatment he just didn’t want to hurt. I called his office in OFallon and all they could offer me was an exam appointment to look at a tooth that is already treatment planned and paid for with No option of same day treatment. For a kid who is in pain! Plus a $50 co pay for that appointment on top of what was already paid out.

FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS ALREADY TREATMENT PLANNED to be done 3 1/2 weeks prior. I was told by Maddie the surgery coordinator that the Dr would not even attempt to try to do any treatment unless sedation was happening. I told her that was not an option as I did not have another 2 grand on hand but need to at least get this done as soon as possible and just need the nitrous and my son just needs to get out of pain. She said she doesn’t work at the O’Fallon office but then said she does part time when I asked her how she knew the Dr will not do the work under just nitrous. I requested a refund which I was told it would take up to 30 days. But my HSA says it should only take 7-10 and the x rays and medical history apparently takes 7-10 days to get from them. After talking with 2 others parents they said their child who is more middle school age said she felt pain for her filling and they would not listen and just kept telling her to hold on they were almost finish to another who they will not just do a filling on with out nitrous for something that happened when he was 4 years old (he is almost 9 now) apparently I am not the o oh parent who feels like this place is not helping kids not be scared of the dentist. I work in the dental field and after talking with my prosthodontist and the oral surgeon that is married to a pediatric dentist I will be leaving this practice to go to her office in a private practice.

Try listening to your patients when they say it hurts while your doing the treatment and their parents when they explain there is no way he was even breathing Also at my children’s last hygiene appt it was clear they were training the assistant doing the appointment but they never asked if I was comfortable with that. Considering the Dr would not do treatment on my son unless he was sedated why let someone with no experience do his cleaning and my 2 year olds first ever appointment? Neither child got a full cleaning done but they sure submitted they did. Overall I was so impressed when my son got a filling done a few years back under just nitrous but the past 8 months working with them has been an over all horrible experience It feels like it’s all for money now and no care to listening to the child or parent. i feel like we were never called back at my appt time and waiting time for the Dr was extremely long. you would think they would not drag out an appt for a patient that "has to be sedated for any treatment to get done” and a 2 year old. At this point I feel a general dentist would have been a better pick.

We’ve been patients for over 10 years, and while the in-office appointments have generally been fine, the repeated last-minute cancellations have become unacceptable. Each time they cancel, you’re left waiting over three months for a new appointment. The final straw was an email at 7:30 PM canceling an appointment for the very next day—no phone call, no explanation. What’s especially frustrating is that the office charges patients for late cancellations, yet they don’t offer the same courtesy in return.

When I called to transfer our children’s files to a new dentist, the staff showed no concern or interest in why we were leaving. After a decade of loyalty, they just lost two patients—and I would not recommend this practice to others.

I've been bringing my kids to this practice for over 5 years and service has been great until the last year (2024/2025). They keep cancelling our kids' appointment due to dentist/doctor shortage and it's now been almost 1 year since our kids have not had their check ups.

Until they re-staff, I cannot recommend this practice as you will grow overly frustrated with the lack of appointments and frequent cancellations.

We had an incredible experience at the Chesterfield location. My daughter (3yrs. ) and son (18 months) both had their first cleaning and dental exam this past week. Both my husband and I were blown away by the kindness and understanding that both the dental hygienist and doctor had for our toddlers.

The staff was adaptable to the needs of my children and the entire appointment was kid centered and friendly. My daughter has asked when she can go back to the dentist. No fear of the dentist here!
