Took my daughter for her appointment which was at 2:30. We arrived 5 minutes early. We sat and waited 45 minutes until being called back. But yet if we were late we would have been penalized with a $75 late fee. A courtesy call would have been the least to do to let me know they were running behind. Do I receive a $75 credit? Just seems unprofessional in my opinion.

It is very very unprofessional place. First of all be ready that if you have state insurance you are not their priority. They have two different lines based on what type of insurance you have. Is it discrimination? Yes it is but when it comes to money who cares. Then we eventually get through they sent me text on the day of my appointment that it will be delayed and I have already took two hours off my work to bring my son to appointment. I called them and ask how long will be delay and they said they do not know.

Did they mention it before that it can be the thing, no because again money is the only important thing for them. They will charge you fee if you have emergency and cancel your appointment too late but they take no responsibility for their emergency and delay. How is it fair? Not really, but who cares when it is all about money and not patient care. I wish our government would control those office better and punish them for treating people like that.

EDIT: lowered the rating to 2 stars because I caught COVID from this office after this appointment. I am immunocompromised and have taken all the precautions I can to avoid getting sick for the last 5+ years. (Despite the majority of people “moving on” from an extremely harmful virus. ) I truly believe that if the nitrous increase had not happened, I would not be sick. (I was only breathing me-dedicated air through the nitrous tube until I started throwing up, then clearly I had no control over where I was breathing. ) ORIGINAL: I want this review to be higher but I can’t in good conscience do more than 3 stars. My consult with them was great. I felt very informed and Dr. Marfo and his staff were kind! Things felt very clean too. There was even an air purifier in the lobby, which helped put me at ease. My issue is that the day of my root canal, things did not go well during the procedure. The work itself is good, I’ve had minimal pain and I’m grateful that Dr.

Marfo seems to know what he’s doing when it comes to root canals! I will also absolutely give credence to the fact that they were short staffed the day of my appointment, and were probably feeling a lot of pressure to get through the appointments as scheduled. For context- Due to severe dental-based anxiety, I have to have nitrous oxide during procedures to help me keep calm. I was put on nitrous and felt just fine at first. I was also offered headphones and the ability to watch something, which I am genuinely grateful for! The downside to this, is not being able to hear well through the headphones. (This will factor in momentarily. ) I was on nitrous for maybe 10-15 minutes before any work outside of numbing happened. As things went on and the procedure fully began, I started to feel very tingly in my hands and feet, but was not really given a chance to communicate how I was feeling due to everything in my mouth. (Yes, I could have motioned with my hand or something, but I’ve had light tingling before with no issue, so I didn’t think much of it. ) Shortly after that, I felt myself getting very lightheaded and not feeling coherent, and I think that further inhibited my ability to hear things, let alone communicate. I ended up getting violently sick in the chair, and choked on my own vomit until they moved the chair to get my head upright. (I would have moved myself but the nitrous mask straps people to the chair. ) I’ve had nitrous many times before and this has never happened, so I was very confused, and visibly shaken.

Dr. Marfo and the assistant did their best to clean me up, and I am very grateful for that. While cleanup was happening, Dr. Marfo tried to reassure me that I was not allergic to the nitrous; instead, the reaction only happened because he had increased the amount of nitrous I was being given. This had not been communicated to me in any way that I could hear or understand (I’m honestly not sure that it had been communicated at all), and that’s what I’m upset about. If I had been told what nitrous level they would start me on- let alone asked if they could increase it- I could have very easily communicated that higher nitrous amounts makes me react poorly. (As I discovered during a dental appointment at a different practice last year. ) I genuinely have no issue with the demeanor of anyone at this practice. Everything else was decent! I just feel that communication should be done in a clearer manner with the patients so something like this doesn’t happen to others.

No one likes to have to go to the dentist much less a a specialist. Dr Marfo did a wonderful job and has a quite calm manner. The check in and check out process was seamless and the front office staff was very friendly and helped with all my questions. Great team!
