Dr. Angelo John Mariotti is a highly accomplished dental professional with extensive experience in periodontology, academia, and research. He holds a D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology. Dr. Mariotti completed his specialty training in periodontology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He had a long and distinguished career at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where he served as a Professor and Chair of the Division of Periodontology. In this role, he was responsible for educating dental students and residents, conducting original research, authoring scientific articles, and providing patient care. He has received significant funding for his research and has published over 100 articles in professional periodicals. His scientific interests include the actions of sex steroid hormones on cellular proliferation and growth in oral tissues, and dental health care economics. Beyond his academic and research contributions, Dr. Mariotti was also a practicing periodontist within The Ohio State Dental Faculty Practice Association, a clinic associated with the university that provides a full range of dental services and is staffed by experienced faculty dentists. This faculty practice offers comprehensive dental care, including treatments for gum and surrounding tissue issues, which aligns with Dr. Mariotti's specialization in periodontology. Dr. Mariotti is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and has been recognized as one of the "Best Dentists in America." He has also held leadership positions in various professional organizations, including serving as President of the Columbus Dental Society. In January 2023, he was appointed Dean of the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health New Orleans School of Dentistry.
