I go to get a single crown and he starts going all over the place about the rest of my mouth, the history of my teeth over the past 15 years, and would not focus on the immediate problem. He refused to place a crown because he claimed the adjacent tooth has a failing implant. But he did not even look at any x-rays, even though his office had been sent x-rays from the oral surgeon right next door. He also did not want to even place a temporary crown to buy me time until I could get any problems with the adjacent tooth looked into, which would have helped tremendously with ability to eat and speak properly.

He left me twisting in the wind. The single most frustrating dentist I have ever encountered.

3 days ago I had to see Dr. Steinberg for the treatment of a cracked tooth. I was petrified! My youngest daughter actually gave me her lovey, named Muffins, to hold while I was in the chair! Dr. Steinberg was beyond gentle. I LITERALLY didn't feel my injections (I had to have 2, in order to get the involved nerves anesthetized)!!!! I stayed completely numb and comfortable during the procedure. His assistant, Brianne, was professional and kind. She helped to put me at ease with conversation and her relaxed manner. I was afraid that the fracture would be extensive and it was, but Dr. Steinberg talked me through it. Once the extent of the crack was included in my restoration preparation, he scanned the preparation. The scan appeared on the chairside and I watched as he refined my CUSTOM onlay! The design was then sent to a machine that prepared my onlay from a block of material WHILE I WATCHED.

30 minutes later, he tried it in. PERFECT FIT. Then, I watched as he HAND GLAZED my onlay and characterized it to make it look as natural as possible. It then went into an oven (like pottery) and "baked" to a glossy finish and incredible strength. Apparently, after baking it's 3 X stronger! The onlay was delivered, my tooth saved. All in a few hours. Incredible. State of the art technology in the hands of an experienced doctor. As a dental professional, I cannot tell you how HARD it is to be a dental patient. I know too much. My mind starts obsessing about all of the things that could go wrong.

My last "work" was over 15 years ago and you can sometimes forget what it's really like to be in the chair. Dr. Steinberg was professional, exacting, knowledgeable, and GENTLE. I am a Board Certified Periodontist in Waynesboro with 20 years of experience so I should be able to recognize and give credit for professional excellence when I see it. . . . . even if the clinician just happens to be my husband. :) Mc Steamy 2. 0?!?!? Absolutely!
