A bit frustrated- I had an appointment today that I scheduled months ago. They sent a confirmation text to confirm my appointment at 12pm, which I confirmed. Then another text the day before my appointment asking if I could come in at 9:30am- I did not respond because I couldn’t come in at 9:30am. On the day of the appointment I received a call saying I missed my appointment for 9:30am and needed to reschedule. I never agreed to changing my appointment time! I have an infant and busy schedule which requires advanced scheduling. This is the second time that has happened.

Also, I noticed that all the positive reviews were from the previous owner/dentist before being sold. The reviews do not accurately reflect the experience of the current staff. But I would like to note that Dr. Sylvia is very friendly and social. Her professional background speaks for itself- very experienced and hard working.

Atmosphere is minimalist. And it has plenty of people working that you would think it’s a dim sum restaurant. But a dim sum restaurant has better customer service, internal communication and professionalism. I scheduled an appointment for a general cleaning in order to assess my dental hygiene and assess this office. I also explained I only have an hour to sit in the chair. However this visit turned out to not be a cleaning and was almost two hours long. It was a comprehensive visit where I needed to get x rayed in order to be given a treatment plan. I expressed I really wanted a cleaning done since that was my intention in coming. I mentioned this to the multiple staff, But they told me they couldn’t do that for me. I would need to schedule another appointment after my comprehensive. Instead they just polished my teeth— poorly. My initial appointment led to them telling me I needed a lot of work done. It felt like I was being badgered and hounded by the staff as they emphasized that everything in their treatment plan is critical. I respected the diagnosis but it felt very overwhelming and rushed as if I wasn’t allowed to advocate for myself. I left unsatisfied.

My second appointment, because I still wanted the cleaning appointment and to give the office another chance. I learned a few new things: The front desk team is completely disconnected from the internal team. There is a lack of communication and cohesiveness. A Bloomingdales with 3 levels has better internal communication than this dental office. I was called multiple times in the same day or hour to schedule future appointments while sitting in the dentist chair as if they didn’t know I checked in and was already here. The multiple phone calls in a day, unprofessional texting etiquette, and poor scheduling management is a big negative. It’s very clear they Are striving to keep a tightly packed schedule. They try to squeeze as many patients as possible by swapping and manipulating the times. The unprofessionalism and the inability to listen is deafening. I kept being pressured to schedule my six hour appointment for my treatment, immediately when I haven’t even decided to commit to this office yet. So I expressed I’ll have to think about it and arrange my schedule to accommodate for this long appointment. Then when I’m ready I would call back. But all I got was a smile, unprofessional small talk and then asked when I would like to schedule my appointment since it’s urgent as if I didn’t just explained my situation. The team demeanor is overall nice and polite. But there’s an overall coldness since all of my wants and requests were ignored.

I finally got my deep cleaning but without polish/ whitening. Which just made me regret wasting time coming in at all. After speaking to the hygienist I finally realized that all of this chaotic interactions is because they were just trying to get a lot work done on me to charge it to my insurance regardless of what I actually wanted. I did agree with the diagnosis and I did want to fix my teeth. But in a timely manner since I couldn’t schedule the next appointment on the fly. The staff there seemed so overly excited that my insurance approved all the requested work and the mouth guard, that it was a bit uncomfortable for me to stay there. So no, I will not be retuning to this office. I will not have my family go to this office. I do not recommend this office. The entire staff is disconnected and out of touch. You will not feel valued as an individual but valued for the cost of the work you need done. It’s just disappointing to find a place so focused on squeezing patients for money and time instead of actually showing they care.
