About
Originally from Fredericksburg, Dr. Almy had braces as a child. Seeing the value of a smile and loving the art and science of dentistry, she decided to become an orthodontist. Dr. Almy went to Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, where she double majored in Biology and Chemistry. She then moved on to the Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Campus School of Dentistry. She finished first in her class in dental school and decided to go on to study orthodontics at the same school. Fredericksburg Orthodontics was started in 2005 after Dr. Almy decided that Fredericksburg was again where she wanted to call home. Dr. Almy is also active in organized dentistry by being the co-chair of the Rappahannock Valley Dental Society, on the board for the MCV Orthodontic Foundation, and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Virginia Association of Orthodontists, the Virginia Dental Association and the Seattle Study Club. She also became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, which means she went through voluntary examination of her treated cases by peer groups. Only 25% of orthodontists have achieved this designation. Dr. Almy is married to her college sweetheart, Robb, who is a former United Methodist pastor and now a realtor and church consultant. They have four children – Robert, Jack, Nolan and Phoebe. She has dogs, cats, goats and whatever else comes her way. In her "spare" time, she enjoys reading, hanging with the kids and going to the beach. She loves being back home and part of the community!
