About

Dr. Gregory C. Gell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics- the pinnacle of academic achievement in the field. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1995 before obtaining a Certificate of Endodontics and Masters of Science (MS) in oral biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1998. Dr. Gell was then in private practice in Durham, NC as an associate of I. Joel Leeb and Associates and taught in the Department of Endodontics as an Adjunct Clinical Professor.

Care Philosophy

Ever since opening our doors in 2004, our team at Afton Endodontics has provided exceptional care in saving teeth through root canal therapy and other endodontic procedures. Our practice's founder, Dr. Gregory Gell, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and has over twenty years of experience. Before starting our practice, he taught undergraduate- and graduate-level endodontics at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Dental School. Joining him here at Afton Endodontics, Dr. Kathryn Watts is currently board eligible and is working toward becoming a Diplomate with the American Board of Endodontics. In March 2019, her research on nonnarcotic clinical pain treatment was published in the Journal of Endodontics. Together, they believe that the best care results from using the most innovative techniques and technology that the field has to offer, which is exactly what we at Afton Endodontics provide.
