Combining her artistic skills with her desire to help people made dentistry the perfect profession for Dr. Leah Romay. Before beginning her journey, she thought the best part would be all of the hands-on work, which is something she really enjoys. What she didn't realize until she began practicing is that dentistry is so much more than removing decay or replacing a tooth. It is about building a trusting relationship with patients, helping people feel safe, secure, and comfortable, and enriching the lives of people through her dedication to their health. It is Dr. Romay's sincere hope that her patients know she is here to give them the best treatment possible. She is passionate about making a difference in her patients' health, both physically and emotionally, by providing high quality dental care in an accessible way. Her goal is to help people feel comfortable and trust that she is always their advocate. Dr. Romay began her journey into dentistry when she was in high school, where she made the decision to become a dentist because of her desire to help people while using her creative and scientific skills. Ever since, she has been dedicated to the profession and happy to have the opportunity to make a difference in her patients' lives every day. Dr. Romay earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology with minors in Studio Arts and Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. She then completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. Following that, Dr. Romay spent a year in residency with a concentration on prosthodontics and dental implants. Throughout her dental school training, Dr. Romay was involved in a variety of professional associations. She was Secretary and Vice President of the University of Maryland Chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists. She was also involved in the American Student Dental Association and the Maryland State Dental Association. Additionally, Dr. Romay was a member of the Gorgas Odontological Honors Society and was President of the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honors Society. In residency, she was a member of the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthodontists. Now that her formal education is complete, her dedication to continuing education benefits her patients directly. Dentistry is an ever-evolving industry with techniques, materials, equipment, and technology released almost daily. With these changes comes the necessity to not only learn, change, and adapt, but also to critically evaluate what is truly best. Dr. Romay's commitment to consistently learning means that she can offer her patients the best possible treatments available today.
