About
Dr. Shirman might be the only dentist in the world who grew up with a fear of dentists. He was born in Russia and spent most of his life living in the United States, but endured some bad dental experiences as a childthat is what drives him to be the most caring and compassionate dentist a patient can have. Dr. Shirman is a graduate of Cleveland State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. While working on his undergraduate degree, he was directly involved in a genetic research that later became published in a scientific journal. He then became a top-five graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine with a prestigious Academic Commendation and Dean's Award certificate underlining his outstanding academic accomplishments. Dr. Shirman later completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Olin E. Teaque VA hospital in Temple, Texas. Currently, Dr. Shirman is working on Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Dr. Shirman's treatment philosophy is based on preventative, evidence-based dental therapy. He strives to provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach including contemporary restorative dentistry, straight wire and Invisalign orthodontics, a wide variety of surgical procedures including implants, endodontics and temporomandibular splint therapy. He recognizes and treats patients suffering obstructive sleep apnea disorders. And last but foremost; Dr. Shirman believes everyone deserves a stress-free and painless dental experience with the help of sedation. Dr. Shirman is a member of the American Dental Association and its state and local affiliates. He is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and holds an International Association for Orthodontics Tier Advancement certificate. He married his wife Oksana in 2005 and they enjoy raising their three daughters Maria and twins Sophia and Anastasia. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, running, bicycling, and photography.
