Detailed Introduction

The Anderson County Health Department Dental Clinic, located at 712 N Main St, Clinton, TN 37716, serves as a crucial resource for affordable dental care in Anderson County, Tennessee. Operated under the umbrella of the Anderson County Health Department, this clinic primarily caters to low-income residents who may not have dental insurance. They accept TennCare and Cover Kids patients, and for others, fees are determined on a sliding scale based on income and family size. While a minimum fee (e.g., $25 per tooth for extractions) may apply, no one is denied services due to inability to pay. The clinic offers a range of essential dental services, including general dentistry such as dental examinations, routine cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and extractions. They also provide fluoride treatments and dental sealants, with a focus on preventive education. Emergency care may be available. The clinic also extends its services to elementary schools in Clinton City, Oak Ridge City, and Anderson County school systems, including HeadStart, by providing dental exams, cleanings, and X-rays. Restorative work for these students is either referred to a private dentist or provided by the clinic itself. The clinic emphasizes accessibility and affordability. They accept cash and credit cards for payment. Hours of operation are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with walk-in appointments sometimes available in the mornings. The clinic also collaborates with other programs, like the Emory Valley Dental Clinic, which utilizes volunteer dentists and staff to serve low-income residents, with follow-up care often provided by the Anderson County Dental Clinic.

When we made the appointment via phone, the consoltent told us it would be at 2pm. . so we planned all day, as well as me taking the day off to be able to go to this. When I arrived there, i was told my appointment was actually for 12pm(Although I KNOW and wrote down the details so I wouldn’t forget it, that it was at 2pm).

However, they still saw me because another appointment didn’t come in and I considered this helpful. The ladies up front were nice. I went back to the dentist(after now having insurance for 3+ years) and completely got bashed for how my teeth and lifestyle is(drinking sodas every day). He told my mom and I that getting my teeth done was a waste of her MONEY and a waste of his TIME and coworkers TIMES.

Prior to my visit, I was very nervous as I knew it was bad(which is why I went ahead and came to the health department instead of waiting any longer to try to get accepted for dental insurance) and this man did NOTHING but made me feel worse about myself and my situation. I don’t recommend people who are in a bad situation to come here, and I won’t be coming back. Guess I will just wait until I get accepted for insurance somewhere, while making “big lifestyle changes”.

I went in to get an x-ray done on my bottom left tooth. I ended up having a bad panic attack and they did their best to calm me down. I have a cousin that works in a different department at ththe health department they got herfor me cause she knows how to calm me down.

They did their best to calm me down. I give the sweet lady a shout out I could tell shedidnt know how to really handle it but she tried her bestandshe got my cousin for me.

Ms Edwina scheduled our appointment, did all of the paperwork up front and was also our hygienist. She very obviously enjoys her job and is absolutely fantastic at at. My very nervous 3 year old let her clean and examine her teeth. We left with a little boy who will be confident to return to the dentist. Thank you so much Edwina.
